MMOrning Shots: Running To Wurm

GW2_-_Origins_of_Madness_-_21-01-14_-_Running_to_Wurm

Today’s MMOrning Shot comes to us from Guild Wars 2 and ArenaNet, to show off the Origins of Madness update that will already be live by the time this article goes up. The first update of 2014, Origins of Madness will task players with taking on Scarlet Briar, arch-villain of the game.

MMOrning Shots shows off interesting games and locales, and can be seen here at MMO Fallout every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. To submit your own MMOrning Shot, send an email to contact@mmofallout.com.

MMOrning Shots: A Head of the Curve

Today’s MMOrning Shot comes to us from Sony Online Entertainment with Dragon’s Prophet. Sony’s upcoming mounted combat update might be exciting, but it’s nothing to lose your head over. Did I say that out loud? I apologize.

MMOrning Shots: The Importance Of Free Time

ffxiv_01122014_235308

Today’s MMOrning Shot comes from Final Fantasy XIV, in particular the game’s rather odd New Year’s event where players take on the role of donning horse masks of varying colors to run around and convince the citizens of Eorzea to embrace the import of horses as an alternative mount to Chocobo. Could horses be added at some point? Possibly, if the conclusion to this quest is anything to go by. Now if you don’t mind, I have to spend some time avoiding that one guy who said he’d rather ride me than either of the two creatures. He says that, play the quest line.

For today’s MMOrning Shots, we continue our trek down nostalgia road with some very old screenshots of Final Fantasy XI. These shots are from 2002, I believe the Playstaton 2 version but don’t quote me on that.

MMOrning Shots: To Waaagh! And Back

Warhammer Online comes to a close today, after five years of operation. As much as we joke here at MMO Fallout about the MMO and just about everything else surrounding the game and its developer, we’re always sad to see a game shut down. There might not have been a lot of people playing Warhammer, but you can’t deny that they were a dedicated bunch. Warhammer Online still sits in quite a few eyes as having the best player vs player combat on the market, and the only true successor to Dark Age of Camelot.

While we are on the subject, has anyone seen Mark Jacobs’ upcoming MMO, Camelot Unchained?

MMOrning Shots: Shroud Of The Avatar

Town_Walls_and_Volcano

Today’s MMOrning Shot comes to us from Shroud of the Avatar, which recently opened its doors to backers to wander around the starter town of Owl’s Head. I had a chance to check out the early access and I found that the chat system is very similar to Everquest in that you actually have to ask questions and bring up subjects rather than clicking on dialogue menus. Sure, you can say “bandits” instead of “tell me about the bandits,” but where’s the fun in that? Nowhere, that’s where.

Today’s MMOrning Shot comes neither in the morning, nor is it funny second thing.

MMOrning Shots: Never Taller

screenshot_2013-11-29-14-12-28

I knew that Dwarves were supposed to be short, but this is ridiculous! With the recent release of Module 2, Shadowmantle, I want to wait at least until I get my main character up to max level before I buy the pack and create a hunter ranger, but at the same time I know that will probably never happen. In fact, the “I’ll wait until I hit the level cap” is probably the best idea I’ve come up with to stop myself from making a whole lot of cash shop purchases, because for me it’s like saying “I’ll wait until the sun dies.” Those of you who read MMO Fallout probably know that I am notoriously slow at leveling as it is and this website doesn’t help bumping me around from game to game.

But enough about me, how are you?

MMOrning Shots: Heroes & Villains

JQsAbHeh

Today’s MMOrning Shot comes to us from Heroes and Villains, a spiritual sequel to City of Heroes in development by the folks at Plan Z Virtual Studio. This is a rather early build of Plan Z’s character creation tool, although as you can see from the image above, work is coming along great on my personal superhero, Contemporary Lounge-chairman. Players will be able to create their character as a hero, villain, or freelancer, and customize their costume, abilities, powers, secret identity, and more.

To check out Heroes & Villains, check out the official website.

MMOrning Shots: Eight More Years

hanging_out_at_the_eldevin_pet_shop

Eldevin is a browser MMO launching in just under three days, after what I am told is eight painstaking years in development. Judging by the game’s trailer, Eldevin is a browser MMO with point and click controls that invokes feelings of City of Steam 1.0. You can get in on the action now by pre-ordering one of the game’s many founders packs, or you can wait until the official launch on December 1st to dive headfirst for free. Is it just me, or does anyone else get a RuneScape 3 vibe from the screenshot above?
