MMOrning Shots: I Will Kill You

The final design looks nothing like the icon in the purchase window, but I don’t think that explanation will stop my Lalafell archer from putting an arrow between my eyes. When he does kill me, someone tell my wife that I’ve been living in her attic for the past year. Also that loan I asked her to co-sign was actually a marriage certificate.

MMOrning Shots: Fishing Buddies

ffxiv_08292013_130902

In Final Fantasy XIV, fishing isn’t just a skill, it is a way of life. Well maybe not, but it is rather addictive. Not to throw fuel on the fire but like many of the other components, fishing in FFXIV 1.0 wasn’t just boring, it was needlessly complicated, and it wasn’t nearly as useful as it is now. These days, fishing does everything from curing hunger, athlete’s foot, finds tax loopholes, and in special occasions can even be used in Finnish dance. And if you look hard enough, you can even find some fish.

Once you hit level 10 in your first chosen class, you are able to travel to Limsa Lominsa (I suggest waiting until 15 when you unlock the airship, it is a long walk otherwise) assuming you didn’t start there, and join the Fishing Guild. Once you start, the goal is to complete your fishing log, complete the occasional quest, and work on your records. The fishing log is a handy tool which fills in with information as you catch fish, detailing prime locations and some information. Quests are available every five levels, and your records are updated whenever you catch a larger fish in a specific category.

MMOrning Shots: Son of a Trigon

Today’s screenshot comes to us from Sony Online Entertainment, on DC Universe’s upcoming DLC release: Sons of Trigon. Releasing later this fall, Sons of Trigon marks the eighth DLC expansion to the super hero/villain MMO since release, as well as the 11th power: Celestial. Players will take on Trigon alongside either Wonder Woman or Circe, in a battle for either power or peace.

Sons of Trigon DLC picks up where the Sins of the Father storyline left off. Through blood ritual, Trigon escaped his dimension and was preparing to attack the Earth. However, he became trapped in a nightmare version of Gotham City, a wasteland filled with sin. In this new DLC, Heroes and Villains will explore these wastelands as they race to confront Trigon and his sinful sons.

MMOrning Shots: Dragon Prophet

Today’s MMOrning Shot comes from Sony Online Entertainment and Dragon’s Prophet. If you didn’t see it in the screenshot, this is an exact recreation of the village that I grew up in back in the old country, until I out-leveled the area and moved into a place with electricity and a working sanitation system. Dragon’s Prophet releases September 18th, but you can check out the open beta going on right now.

MMOrning Shots: A Menu Reborn

Today’s MMOrning Shot comes to us from Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn, and shows off a bit of the new user interface and menu design. When Final Fantasy XIV did its first run, the game was criticized for a poorly implemented menu. Chief among the redesigns for A Realm Reborn is a new menu that is easier to navigate with a mouse and keyboard.

MMOrning Shots: That’s Wakfu

One day someone will say “Omali, I saw this game on MMOrning Shots and now I am a happy customer,” and maybe, just maybe, those fine fellows who develop games at [redacted] will stop beating me up and stealing my lunch every day. Maybe, I can always dream.
