Major Updates Coming To Eldevin

Eldevin only just launched a few days ago, but the folks at Hunted Cow are already looking toward the future. In a post on the forums, lead programmer Glenn Murphy discussed a few pieces of content that the team is working on. Foremost, Hunted Cow hopes to address the very restrictive camera, a byproduct of the game’s rendering. Eventually players will have better control of the camera, offering a wider range of movement and better visibility of their surroundings. Additionally, since Eldevin is running on an engine built in Java around ten years ago, the game is rendered on a software level. By performing some upgrades, the team hopes to bring the tech forward and allow for hardware rendering.

Also on the bucket list are guilds, an auction house, mail system, housing, pets, and WASD movement.

Runefest has come and gone with attendees getting the chance to meet the developers, participate in activities, and test out upcoming updates. Jagex has sent us over a list of some big reveals from Runefest, including the name of the next skill, the 200th quest, world events, and more. Check out the list below:

  • The Invention Skill, which is a partner to the recently launched Divination skill and represents a technological leap forward within the game.  This skill will allow players create their own gear and “soul weapons” which can be leveled up to increase their power as players progress through the game.
  • The RuneScape Community App, which will allow players to chat and access the Grand Exchange, RuneScape’s trading system, through their mobile devices.
  • A preview of the 2nd World Event which has been confirmed to involve the two gods Armadyl and Bandos, who will be travelling across the world map trying to gain followers and influence.  Players will also be able to opt into innovative open world PVP.
  • Upgraded matchmaking which will allow players to easily find other player who are interested in playing specific social content, allowing them put together teams easily without interrupting their gameplay.
  • Players were shown a glimpse of two new quests – The 200th quest which will focus on the Elves and a new Master quest featuring the return of Zaros.
  •  “The Church of YOU” – Over the past decade players have been central to all RuneScape content and are the world guardians, now they can start to amass their own followers to worship their in-game achievements.

WAR: Facebook Update, And First Impression Thoughts…

Back in March, I mentioned a Warhammer Online campaign on Facebook with simple terms: Once the WAR Facebook profile hit five thousand likes, the price of the RvR Booster Double Pack would be dropped (permanently) to $9.99. At the time, if my memory servers correctly, Warhammer carried around fourteen hundred (1,400) likes. I also compared the move to Jagex having a poll to bring back the wilderness, but then starting work on development before the poll had even finished, because they knew what the outcome would be, and simply wanted some free press.

Well, as of Monday, the Warhammer Facebook page has hit five thousand likes, and the price for the RvR Booster pack has dropped to $9.99. All in all, slightly over a month.

On another Warhammer Online note, I have a big stick to raise with the team at Mythic. Perhaps you should consider making the Herald the home page for Warhammeronline.com. When I go to your website, the first thing I see is a news section, with the latest news being “Return to War” and “Patch 1.3.1,” from September 1st and August 31st of last year, respectively.

That’s just my morning two cents on the matter. It’s a small aesthetic change, but in a world where Warhammer’s active status is constantly in question, every little bit helps.

Fallen Earth LLC: Any Sleep?

Fallen Earth went into live mode on September 22nd, where the title had something of a rocky start. The first few weeks have brought on numerous bugs, server load issues, and recurring problems with the tutorial. Fallen Earth LLC hopes to put the past behind it with an upcoming patch that will address all of these problems.

To start at the top of the list, the new tutorial will allow an optional extension of 30 to 45 minutes, that will give players a more indepth look at the crafting, scavenging, combat, mount, and harvesting systems. Town events will also be given an update, and the patch is followed by eight pages of bug fixes. In addition, October will bring a Halloween event to Fallen Earth.

Forget whether or not Fallen Earth can handle the updates; One can only wonder as to the abuse that the coffee machine over at Fallen Earth LLC is taking.
