Elder Scrolls Online: Morrowind Is Being Called A “Chapter,” Launches In June

Zenimax has announced the next massive update to The Elder Scrolls Online, bringing players to the Morrowind province of Vvardenfell. Set to launch on June 6th, Morrowind is being called a ‘chapter,’ with content around that of an official expansion but accessible to all players thanks to the One Tamriel system. Also coming with the expansion is a new class, the Warden, capable of summoning a War Bear ally (seen in the trailer above). Also set for launch with the expansion is a 4v4v4 PvP mode.

Vvardenfell is the largest zone added to The Elder Scrolls Online since launch and utilizes the same geographic footprint as The Elder Scrolls III, including all key points of interest from the classic game. Players will embark on a dangerous journey through legendary locales in Vvardenfell, 700 years before the events of The Elder Scrolls III, from the docks of Seyda Neen, to the volcanic Ashlands, to dense, mushroom-filled forests, and through the glory of Vivec City, still under construction in this time period.

Morrowind will cost $39.99, or $59.99 for the full package with the base game included. The big box, set at $100, includes a hefty looking Dwarven Colossus statue.

E3 2016: Elder Scrolls Online Announces Japan, Level-Scaling

ESO_ThievesGuild_SneakyBow_1453992808

The Elder Scrolls Online is heading to Japan this month, as Bethesda announced during yesterday’s streaming conference. Gamers in Japan will be able to get their hands on the title on June 23rd, presumably on an equal release schedule to other regions.

Additionally, Zenimax announced big changes coming to how players consume content in The Elder Scrolls Online. Dubbed One Tamriel, content will be scaled to a player’s level in the same way that levels are scaled during DLC levels right now. Higher level players will effectively be the same “level” as lower level players, but will have more advantages in terms of better gear, skills, and abilities.

Matt Firor announced that Elder Scrolls Online has seven million players, which was later clarified to mean seven million copies purchased total.

Please note that this number does NOT include beta players (who played the game before we launched) and it also does not include players from our free trial (Xbox-only, in December of 2015). It all boils down to one thing: a LOT of people have purchased and played the game during the last two years, and we are grateful for each and every one.

Elder Scrolls Online Is “Huge and Thriving”

ESO_ThievesGuild_SneakyBow_1453992808

In celebration of Elder Scrolls Online’s second anniversary, game director Matt Firor has taken to the official website to reminisce on the past two years. In addition to showcasing his own character’s progress since the 2014 launch, Firor also noted that the community is ‘huge and thriving,’ a statement that will no doubt be questioned in the comment section below.

Over the last year, we have grown our family by leaps and bounds. We launched the console versions of ESO, which opened the game up to millions more new players. We added three DLCs’ worth of content, allowing players to explore the Imperial City, Wrothgar, and Hew’s Bane. And we will continue to make the game better every day. Our population is huge and thriving, and we are happy to share our enthusiasm and nostalgia with you.

Cue the demands for hard numbers in three, two, one…

c5d06229f65460a2c9eefdb73797216c

If you purchased the Thieves Guild or Orsinium DLC packs, you have a new vanity pet waiting for you. Orsinium owners will receive an Echalette pet while Thieves Guild will receive a Jackal to follow them around on their adventures. The pets require completion of a very simple achievement, simply walk into the area introduced with either pack in order to obtain the achievement and thus the pack.

We’ll be adding a new achievement for each DLC game pack, which you’ll need to complete to receive your pet. The Orsinium achievement is “A Gift from Orsinium,” and the achievement for Thieves Guild is titled “Spoils of Abah’s Landing.” Don’t worry, all you need to do is enter Orsinium or Abah’s Landing, and the pet will automatically be added to your collection (and it’s account-wide!).

According to the announcement, DLC packs from now on will include a vanity pet of some sort.

The third DLC pack for The Elder Scrolls Online introduces players to the Thieve’s Guild, an organization that the player finds in shambles. Players travel to Abah’s Landing in southern Hammerfell to join the guild, and must work to rebuild it back to its former glory. Membership in the guild has many benefits, including a new passive skill line, access to repeatable heist quests, re-acquisition quests, and guild jobs.

Purchasing the DLC, free for subscribers and 2000 crowns for everyone else, will also grant access to other new features, from new zones, new world bosses, gear, a new crafting style, and non-combat servants that can perform certain tasks. Everyone regardless of their purchase status will have access to the new 64-bit client on Windows and Mac, combat and gameplay balances, Cyrodil updates, new crafting styles, and more.

Play Elder Scrolls Online For Free, Unless You Can’t

eso 2014-04-20 15-54-36-52

Elder Scrolls Online is free this weekend for anyone who has yet to make the purchase. Well, not everyone. Xbox One players should have no problem just getting in and starting once the weekend goes live, but everyone else is going to have some issues. First, Playstation 4 players can’t get in on the weekend at all. PC players are going to have to procure a key that will be available from various partner websites.

The free weekend runs from the 10th until the 14th this month. The lack of Playstation 4 access has been blamed on “technical issues” and the company hopes to have a free weekend for the platform when those issues are resolved. For others, the game is currently 60% off with discounts on cash shop currency.

ESO Players Can Craft XP Potions

eso 2014-04-20 15-54-36-52

Zenimax Online Studios recently introduced experience boosters to The Elder Scrolls Online in the form of Crown Experience Scrolls. The scrolls cost 1000 crowns for a pack of five, provide 50% bonus to ALL experience gains, do not stack, and last two hours apiece. To appease critics, Zenimax also introduced a new brewing recipe: Psijic Ambrosia. In order to create Psijic Ambrosia, one must first find all seven parts of the recipe, through writs or trading other players.

The recipe calls for three ingredients and can be crafted with rank 4 Recipe Quality as well as rank 6 Recipe Improvement. Each potion lasts 30 minutes and provides the same bonus as the cash shop item, however master crafters can use the recipe to craft four potions each lasting 50 minutes.

Elder Scrolls Online Drops On Consoles Today

eso 2014-04-20 15-54-36-52

Console gamers have reason to rejoice, as today marks the launch of The Elder Scrolls Online on PS4 and Xbox One. Or not, if you’re one of the players having trouble logging in. The sheer number of players logging into the console servers during the midnight launch caused some issues with stability and the login servers.

“The team has created a great console multiplayer experience for fans of The Elder Scrolls,” said Matt Firor, game director of The Elder Scrolls Online: Tamriel Unlimited. “We can’t wait for this new group of players to jump in and explore the world of Tamriel with their friends.”

Elder Scrolls Online is available with a single purchase, with no subscription required.
