And other revenue reports from this quarter.
Pearl Abyss is the latest company to release their first quarter finances and the results are pretty good. Operating revenue for Q1 2020 increased .5% year over year with operating profit up 153% and net profit up 242.6%. Hey that’s not bad at all.
The first quarter was spent on improving IP profitability with Black Desert introducing cross play on consoles causing an increase in users and thus revenue, with PC/Mobile maintaining solid revenue streams. On Eve Online’s front Pearl Abyss attributed a better user experience as resulting in an increase in users and revenue. Measures to improve IP profitability also include self-publishing Black Desert Japan, the ongoing testing of Shadow Arena, and the March 12 game approval for Eve Online in China.
On the Q2 front, Pearl Abyss is launching Shadow Arena into early access on May 21. Eve Online hit China on April 27 with Black Desert Japan shoring up on April 24. New pipelines of revenue are expected from new IPs including Crimson Desert, DokeV, and Plan 8. Another title Eve Echoes is in progress by Netease.
