Intellivision focused on getting pre-orders out by year end.
(Disclosure: I pre-ordered one of these.)
The internet’s least surprising shock story has been made public today; the Intellivision Amico console will not launch on October 10. The news comes after months of uncertainty in the market, a continued shortage of various electronic components, the ongoing Covid crisis, and a million other factors. While Intellivision has refused or more likely been unable to give a straight answer for the past few months on making release date, the company today announced that no, they will not be meeting the date.
There is a silver lining in this cloud, however, as the announcement notes a determination to get pre-orders sent to customers by the end of the year. How confident the company is in meeting that deadline however is to be seen, but MMO Fallout precogs have seen visions involving a lot of confidence in the early hours following this delay.
In spite of these supply hurdles hampering our ability to fill all orders, we are focused and determined to deliver pre-ordered units by the end of the year. This will also allow us more time to optimize our operating system for future game development. We want to ensure that those who have anticipated the Amico for so long, get a chance to enjoy it as soon as possible. Of course, we will keep all of our customers and interested parties informed and updated on our continued progress.
For more information on the Amico, keep an eye on the official Twitter account. For less information on the Amico, feel free to check in with your local drama YouTube grifter channel. For no information on the Amico, stay tuned to Jamflex.net, because we’re not going to cover this console again until we have a physical unit in our office. It’s nothing personal.
