You’ll need to pony up more for dungeons.
I’m just going to go on a limb here and say the Destiny 2 community is or is about to be very angry this week. In a Reddit thread, Bungie confirmed that the upcoming expansion The Witch Queen will not grant users access to the new dungeon just because they paid for the standard edition of the expansion pack. Bungie community manager Cozmo23 confirmed on Reddit that players have two options to gain access to the dungeons; buy the digital deluxe edition of The Witch Queen or upgrade to it later on. Otherwise, no dungeons for you. Dungeons will also not be included in the season pass.
If you get the Digital Deluxe Edition of The Witch Queen you will receive the expansion, all four Seasons for the next year, and the two Dungeons. If you get the Standard Edition, you can still upgrade to the Deluxe Edition to get the dungeons later. We will also be offering a separate way for you to purchase the Dungeons in the future, but they will not be included in the Season passes.
Dungeons in Destiny 2 are incredibly difficult end-game activities that according to Bungie very few people actually participate in. There are three currently in game (Shattered Throne, Pit of Heresy, and Prophecy) and between The Witch Queen and 30th Anniversary Expansion that list is set to double.
The Witch Queen launches February ’22.
