How many times do we have to teach you this lesson, old man?
If there’s one area where the vicious anger of the internet mob has overwhelmingly pointed consistently in the right direction over the last year, it is the brutal beatings that developers have taken regarding NFT integration into games. And you’d think that after so many developers have been forced to dial back and in many cases completely cancel their plans for the tech, that future companies wouldn’t be so stupid as to fall into the trap themselves.
Just a tip, the question “are they stupid enough to ____” will always be answered with a yes. 100% of the time.
Storybook Brawl is a game whose developer was recently acquired by FTX, a crypto company trying to make their way into the gaming space. A space that has shown time and time again it has very little patience for NFT companies. Since then the company has already started talking about integrating NFTs into Storybook Brawl including in a non-cosmetic form.
The result is a review bombing campaign on Steam, with more than 500 negative reviews as of this publishing. It should be noted that if Storybook Brawl adds NFTs to the game, that it will be banned from the Steam store as Valve do not allow crypto/NFT games on their platform.
Make no mistake, the beatings will continue until developers get the message.
