Kakao’s investment lead the series-b funding round which brought in $25 million in investment funnybucks from a variety of investors. Playable Worlds was founded in 2018 and is developing cloud-native and metaverse games. Their first title is set for announcement in 2023.

“We are very pleased to be working with Kakao Games, a publisher well received in both the Korean and global markets.“ says Raph Koster, CEO of Playable Worlds. “We will deliver innovative Cloud-Native gaming experiences for players worldwide.”

Kakao’s investment in Playable Worlds joins their earlier $20 million strategic investment in Frost Giant Studios, a relatively new studio founded by the creators behind Starcraft II, Warcraft III, and Command & Conquer. More news as it appears.
