Space Truckers Caught Stealing Sprites From Numerous Games

Space Truckers is a relatively new game to Steam, having just launched on November 23. If the community has anything to say about it, its life span on the service will be short and possibly end in legal action. Available for the low, low price of $19.99, currently on sale at 10% off, you can enjoy everything that Space Truckers has to offer, like stolen assets from commercial games and community projects.

Users on the ZDoom forum have posted an alarming number of comparisons showing sprites ripped directly from other games. Not content with merely taking assets from William Shatner’s Tekwars, Space Truckers also allegedly steals from Duke Nukem 3D, Blood, Strife, Left 4 Dead 2, and more. You can head on over to the forums and see a pretty long list of direct sprite rips, sound files, and even Windows assets that made their way into the game.

As usual, this controversy is drawing more attention thanks to accusations that the developer is actively deleting threads on the game’s Steam forums pointing out these stolen assets. MMO Fallout will follow up with any further information.

[Community] The Nontroversial Fizzle Of One Guild’s Emblem

BlackDesert_Pc_01

It wouldn’t be Monday on the internet, or any other day for that matter, if we weren’t discussing someone getting offended over a non-controversial issue. Those of you who read Massively OP, as I myself do, found an article late last week complaining about an “offensive” guild symbol in Black Desert Online that a reader tipped the staff to. The symbol is of a female stick figure (clearly female because of the skirt) with a down arrow next to it. Take a few seconds to guess the context, this coffee isn’t going to refill itself.

black-desert-down-with-w-860x280

Finished? Stumped? Well, it’s an in-joke. The guild that created the logo is a rival of another guild on the same server. Said rival guild’s emblem is a “man up” statement, a man figure with an up arrow next to him. Get it now? Man up, woman down, Geodude’s Pokemon type is ground? The point is that the guild emblem is a joke, an in-joke, but probably one that the majority of you just kinda thought about and were stumped.

What it didn’t stop was the internet’s roving gang of perpetually offended, constantly seeking out new things to project their hateful view of the world on. A reader complained to Kakao Games that the emblem was sexist, presuming that the message was along the lines of “down with women,” or something else derogatory toward women. Kakao, being of sound mind and body, recognized the emblem and actually took the time to gain context before damning the creator, and refused to take action. The reader complained to Massively, who were also told by Kakao that the emblem was a parody and not in fact a poster for the BDO chapter of the He Man Woman Hater’s Club.

The guild has since changed their emblem to a dog with a circle and line through it. Unsurprisingly, the aforementioned group of perpetually offended have once again found something to be offended by. Take a look in the comments section and you’ll find users conflating the new emblem as using a dog to call women bitches, calling the creators sexist (again) and claiming that the emblem is an affront to women.

You can’t win.

ELOA Is Coming Back Under GamenGame

unnamed-7

Game & Game is an online game portal dedicated to supporting Korean game enterprises, but all you need to know is that they have acquired the rights to publish ELOA, which was shut down by Webzen just recently. Developer nPic Soft decided to make the switch to Game & Game in order to provide players a more stable and reliable service, as CEO Dennis Choi stated:

“Newly started ELOA will not only open the content from the beginning to Level 50 of EPIC 2 course but also offer different and great experience with newly improved and upgraded system. Especially, update of “Town Domination War” will enable the users of guild collect taxes from each town after they win PvP battle between guilds. This update is adopted to solve the lack of End content which has been pointed out as vulnerable part. It will be started initially on the global version from December, right after ELOA’s official launch on “GamenGame.com”.

To celebrate the relaunch, Game & Game is rewarding players based on how many likes the game’s Facebook page receives.
