Epic Games is no stranger to cross-promotion with Fortnite as the game regularly features crossovers with Marvel, DC Comics, NFL, and more. Last year Fortnite worked with Marshmello for a live concert (flashing lights warning on that video) and when they announced that Travis Scott would also be hosting a concert in-game, I think most people probably assumed it would be a similar affair.
It wasn’t (flashing light warning for this video as well).
The roughly 10 minute concert is quite a show. Epic Games posted on Twitter to reveal that 12.3 million people tuned in live to participate in the first show of the event. This knocks the prior record held by Marshmello’s event (10.7 million) out of the water and makes it the most attended Fortnite event.
