Humble Bundle Will Cap Charity Donations

Because they like money.

Humble Bundle announced this week in a blog post that the organization has helped raise $195 million for charity. Deciding to grab a piece of the pie for themselves, Humble also announced that starting in May donations will be capped for charity share. Right now users can dictate what percentage of their Humble purchases go to charity. That system will be replaced in late May with one that caps donations at 15% of the total purchase.

The change of course means that a significant portion of revenue will now go to the publisher and Humble itself. Humble Bundle was purchased in 2017 by media giant IGN. The decision has unsurprisingly generated a fair amount of criticism on social media (and what doesn’t these days), particularly over capping the charitable donation portion to 15%. Not a great look for a website dedicated to charity that has the word “humble” in its name.
