PUBG Mobile Charity Event Raises Money To Save The Amazon

This week PUBG Mobile partnered with Global Green to help save the Amazon. On December 9 a star studded roster including actress Megan Fox and Brian Austin Green, hosted the #fight4theamazon event at Avalon Hollywood. The event kicked off with Fox and Green facing off in a 4v4 PUBG Mobile match joined by influencers Nikki Bella, Stephen Boss, Pickles, Allison Holker Boss, Artem Chigvintsev, and McCoffee. Megan Fox’s team was ultimately victorious.

The event also played host to a 90210 reunion, a trivia contest, and an aerialist duo. Megan Fox presented Global Green with a check for $100,000 on behalf of Tencent and PUBG Mobile.

But those of you who didn’t attend the event are not out of luck, as a separate contest is ongoing offering a chance to win a Tesla Model S and $20,000. Contest details can be found here.

Amazon Game Studios Suffers Layoffs, Cancellations

Amazon Game Studios confirmed this week that it has laid off dozens of employees in a report published by Jason Schreier of Kotaku.

Affected employees have been told that they have 60 days to seek new positions within Amazon or they will receive a severance package upon dismissal. An Amazon spokesperson stated to Kotaku:

“These moves are the result of regular business planning cycles where we align resources to match evolving, long-range priorities. We’re working closely with all employees affected by these changes to assist them in finding new roles within Amazon.”

Amazon began building its gaming division in 2014 and so far the company has yet to produce much of anything. The layoffs accompany the cancellation of multiple unannounced titles.

Webzen Launching KnightWeGo, MU Character Art Toy

Webzen this week announced a collaboration with Sentinel Co., Ltd. for KnightWeGo, an MU charcter art toy.

Sentinel is located in Japan and specializes in toys, figures, and various other goods. Webzen and Sentinel have collaborated to design a new toy called KnightWeGo, combining MU character Dark Knight with Sentinel’s action figure 35MechatroWeGo.

It’s odd in a strangely adorable sort of way. Those looking to pick up one of the figures will find it available for pre-order on Amazon and Toys To Art starting February 12 and running for two months. The toy itself is expected to ship in July.

MMO Fallout will post a new article once the item is available for pre-order. We do not currently know how much this will sell for.

Amazon Reveals 2018 Best Selling Games

It’s that time of the year, when retail stores start posting their best selling games from the prior year. Amazon has posted the top selling products in the video game category. The top 10 is mostly comprised of Playstation Plus cards and Playstation cash cards, with Nintendo Switch products making up the bulk of the rest. As for the games themselves, the Nintendo Switch sold like gangbusters and makes up a very large portion of the top 50 titles.

Here is the list of video games in the top 50.

  • #1: Super Smash Bros. Ultimate (Switch)
  • #14: Red Dead Redemption 2 (PS4)
  • #15: Super Mario Party (Switch)

PSA: Get 1 Year PS+ For $40 (Normally $60) On Amazon, Gamestop

Our more money savvy viewers are likely already taking part in this plan, but one of the better ways to top up your Playstation Plus or Xbox Live each year is to buy the cards on Black Friday or around Christmas, two of the very few times that the cards actually go on sale. It looks like Amazon and Gamestop are getting in on the action early, because both companies have the one year Plus codes on sale right now.

The offer on Amazon is in the form of a digital code that is immediately delivered to your digital library, as is Gamestop. If you prefer to head over to the physical Gamestop location and pay cash, you should be aware that the code only applies to digital codes purchased at the register and printed on the receipt and not the physical cards that are on display next to the Red Lobster gift cards on the sales floor.

This sale is brief, and only appears to extend until Tuesday November 7. While the cards will definitely go on sale for Black Friday, there is no guarantee on what that sale price will be. Playstation Network cards are country locked, so if you’re outside of the United States we would recommend against purchasing.

[Community] Amazon’s Ridiculous and Inconsistent Prime-Gating

amazon

Before we begin, let me just get this out of the way and say that I am an Amazon Prime customer and am very happy with my service. Now on to the article.

Amazon has caused plenty of ruffled feathers and heads scratched in confusion with a very odd and inconsistent new scheme to sell games: major markdowns for Prime members. Discounts are hardly new for Prime, members already enjoy 20% discounts on new and pre-release games as well as free two day shipping, Prime-exclusive coupons, and the Prime pantry. What you might not expect is to see games becoming exclusive to Prime members for short periods of time.

The marketing is extremely inconsistent. For instance, as you can see above, both the Playstation 4 and Xbox One copies of Grand Theft Auto V are $39.99, while only the Xbox One version is “exclusive for Prime members.” If you get over to the actual store page as a non-member, you can’t buy it at all. You can buy the PS4 version for $39.99, but on the Xbox it is reserved for Prime members only. What’s even stranger is that just a few days ago the roles were reversed, you could buy the Xbox One version but not the PS4.

As another example, right now the PC version of Fallout 4 is on sale for $39.99, exclusive for Prime members, but the Xbox One and PS4 versions are also on sale for the same price but are not exclusive.

There has been a lot of speculation on why such a policy would be put into place, and Amazon hasn’t given any specific answers outside of pointing out benefits of Amazon Prime, but right now there doesn’t seem to be any rhyme or reason to the exclusivity, nor any incentive to sign up for Amazon Prime since the sale price seems to be released to the public after a couple of days anyway.

As for the prices themselves, they’re decent enough. $39.99 for Grand Theft Auto V on Xbox One when it is still full price at most competing retailers, although Wal Mart and Best Buy both had similar deals at the time of this publishing.

The Division Is Slamming Amazon’s Best Seller List

TheDivision 2016-02-20 09-09-09-82

With The Division’s launch just a few days away, it shouldn’t be too surprising that the title is ranking high on Amazon’s best seller list. The Playstation 4 standard version is the second best selling game on the list so far, outranked only by the recently released Twilight Princess remake on Nintendo WiiU. The Xbox One version ranks in at #10 overall while also being the fourth best selling game under Fire Emblem Fates: Birthright on the Nintendo 3DS.

The gold versions of both games rank in at #33 and #56 on Playstation and Xbox respectively, with the PC version at #47. Naturally the list only covers sales through Amazon’s store and does not take into account other retailers. Overall mileage may vary. The Amazon best seller list is generally dominated by currency and subscription cards for Playstation, along with controllers and console bundles.

The Division launches March 8th on Playstation 4, Xbox One, and PC.

In what is either a case of itchy programming or intentional promotion, Amazon has put up the entire one hour twenty six minute series premiere of Defiance. According to a few people we’ve talked to, you can only access the video if you’re in the United States (or have a US proxy). Just click on the link below to view the video. It is listed as “Amazon Preview” but you’re able to watch the full episode.

Watch it before it’s gone! Otherwise just watch it on TV, it airs on Monday anyway.
