Too Human broke real ground after its launch in 2008, and not because of anything in the game play itself. Along with several other Silicon Knights products, it stands as one of the only titles in the industry to have a judge order all stock be recalled and destroyed. Way back in the year of 2007, developer Silicon Knights headed by President Denis Dyack filed a lawsuit against Epic Games over contract disputes, mostly alleging inadequate support and missing deadlines with the Unreal Engine. Sometime during the trial information came forward that Silicon Knights had filed the lawsuit while simultaneously stealing the Unreal Engine source code to build their own platform. Thousands and thousands of lines with typos and developer commentary were stolen, with Epic’s copyrights ripped out, and claimed as Silicon Knights creation.
Thanks to the company’s criminal behavior Silicon Knights lost their lawsuit, lost a countersuit by Epic, and was forced to pay millions in damages and recall all copies of the games developed using the Unreal Engine code and the company went bankrupt and shut down shortly after. Founder Denis Dyack has gone on to form new developers in the time since, however has had no luck in crowdfunding at least partially due to the controversy surrounding his name.
Coming as quite a surprise and after six years of the game being unavailable for purchase on digital stores, Microsoft re-released Too Human and has made the game backwards compatible and available for free on the Xbox Store. You’ll want to activate the game to your account sooner rather than later, as the game won’t be around long. For a week, you can pick up the game plus the pre-order armor pack, as well as two themes if you are still going to play this on your 360.

Xbox Game Pass is coming to PC systems, according to Microsoft and you don’t even have to wait for today’s conference to get more details. While there is sure to be more on display later this afternoon, Microsoft has already started rolling out its Ultimate Game Pass and you can actually get your hands on it now.
The Ultimate Game Pass costs $14.99 per month, but you can grab the first month for $1, and it combines Xbox Live and Game Pass in one handsome bundle. Alternately, if you just want the PC Game Pass you’ll be glad to hear it comes at a discount. $5 compared to the Xbox Game Pass being $10. This is also available for a $1 introductory price.
But Connor, I hear you asking, what if I’m a jerk like you and literally just renewed my Xbox Live for six months two days ago? Do I need to wait until December to make this worth it? The good news is that no, you don’t have to do much. Just spend the $1 for the ultimate game pass and your existing membership in both Live and the Game Pass will be converted to the Ultimate Game Pass time. So in my case, I spent $1 for the upgrade and now my membership doesn’t renew until January as the six months I had on Live and whatever days I had in the game pass were automatically converted in.
Beta information for the PC game pass will no doubt be in today’s conference as well as information on games coming to it.

April showers bring May video games, and May is looking to haul in quite the bag of goodies.
Microsoft has announced the games coming to Xbox Game Pass in May, and Black Desert is among the list. Black Desert joins Wolfenstein II, Wargroove, Lego Batman 3, The Surge, Tacoma, For the King, and Surviving Mars. The title will be available on May 9 and presumably offers what is available in the standard edition. Game pass users will be able to upgrade for a 20% discount on the standard, deluxe, or ultimate edition bundles as well as 10% on all consumables.

This week Andy Mcnamara from Game Informer sat down for a softball interview with Sony Interactive Entertainment Worldwide Studios chairman Shawn Layden. The two discuss a few topics regarding the Playstation and games, but at the end of the interview Mcnamara brings up the topic of cross-play. Layden’s response? All publishers have to do is ask.
“People keep saying, “Why doesn’t Sony allow more people to have it?” We’re open for business on this one. All it takes is for publishers and developers who wish to permission it. As ever, just work with your PlayStation account manager, and they will walk you through the steps that we’ve learned through our partnership with Epic on how this works. I don’t believe right now there is any gating factor on that. I think they’re open to make proposals, because the Fortnite thing worked pretty well.”
A great response, except it’s still a complete falsehood. Chucklefish’s CEO chimed in on the issue in a ResetEra thread noting that the developer did exactly what Layden suggested; they asked their account manager. The manager’s response? In no uncertain terms, absolutely not.
Hi all,
CEO Of Chucklefish here, we just launched Wargroove with crossplay between PC, Switch and Xbox so I wanted to chime in.
We made many requests for crossplay (both through our account manager and directly with higher ups) all the way up until release month. We were told in no uncertain terms that it was not going to happen.
From our side, we can *literally* toggle a switch and have it working. Of course policy work might be more complicated for Sony.
Just wanted to provide some balance on the issue and say that it certainly isn’t a question of developers having not contacted their account managers or having dropped the ball. We were told no.
Meanwhile Nintendo and Microsoft have just recently struck a deal that will see Xbox Live come to the Nintendo Switch.

This month sees a marked increase in titles available on Xbox Game Pass, the $10 monthly subscription service that gives access to over a hundred games on Xbox One. New titles have been released as of July 1, including racing title Dirt 4, sniper game Zombie Army Trilogy, Shadow Complex Remastered, The Elder Scrolls: Oblivion, Fallout 3, and Human Fall Flat.
Important to note is that these games are the base versions and do not come with any downloadable content and that neither Fallout 3 nor Oblivion are the Game of the Year editions.
Later this month sees the simultaneous release of a few brand new titles. Vermintide 2 hits Xbox, Playstation, and PC on July 11 but Game Pass subscribers can get access to the full game on day one without needing to purchase it. One day earlier on June 10 you’ll be able to get your hands on Bomber Crew, a simulation strategy title set in a World War 2 bomber plane.
Xbox Game Pass is a $10/month service that allows you to play an impressive library of games on your Xbox One, and with E3 kicking off the service just got more valuable. As announced over the weekend, Microsoft has added several games including The Division, Elder Scrolls Online, and Fallout 4, with more titles on the way.
As is standard the with service, the Game Pass won’t get you any DLC for any of the titles listed and there is the likeliness that some of the games may be removed from the service at some unspecified point in the far future. Any game on the service can be purchased at a discount, including relevant DLC. If you haven’t already invested into the game on other platforms, now might be a good time to start playing.

The Federal Trade Commission has issued a warning to console manufacturers: Your warranties are illegal and must be altered within 30 days. The letters were sent to all three console manufacturers: Sony, Microsoft, and Nintendo along with Hyundai, HTC, and Asus according to a Freedom of Information request sent by Vice.
The FTC warning is in relation to provisions in each company’s terms of service that claims to void your warranty if it is repaired by a third party, as well as those fancy “warranty void if broken” stickers that we have all seen on our consoles at some point. This language is illegal, according to the FTC, who also note in their letter that the 30 day provision does not prevent them from taking legal action on any past or future violations.
“Provisions that tie warranty coverage to the use of particular products or services harm both consumers who pay more for them as well as the small businesses who offer competing products and services,” said Thomas B. Pahl, Acting Director of the FTC’s Bureau of Consumer Protection.
All six companies have 30 days to change their policy or face legal action.
The above photo is an Xbox One ad concept created by Reddit user Macsterr and posted on PUBG’s subreddit about a month ago. This image may look familiar if you follow Xbox on Twitter because someone from the company saw the concept and apparently loved it enough to create official advertising that you might refer to as an…aggressive homage. The following appeared on the Xbox Twitter account yesterday, December 26.
The original tweet has been deleted, but the internet doesn’t forget things so easily and the archived version can be found here. The tweet on the Xbox account as deleted with no additional statement by Microsoft.
