mount_trainer_eldevin_city

Hunted Cow Studios has released the latest patch for Eldevin, introducing player-ridden mounts. Patch 1.17 deployed today and includes twelve new mounts for players to collect through crafting, gold, Eldevin points, drops, and as achievement rewards.

Update 1.17 features 12 new mounts that can be obtained in a variety of ways. Players can start collecting mounts by visiting the Riding Trainer near the Eldevin Fountain. Other mounts can be obtained via crafting, purchased for Eldevin Points or Valor Points and found as drops from certain powerful monsters. One mount is obtainable only as an achievement reward.

Patch 1.17 also implements a number of other changes to Eldevin, which you can find in the game’s patch notes.

Mortal Online: Revolutionizing Mounts In MMOs!

Seeing Henrik Nystrom post on the Mortal Online always reminds me of watching a kid describing his favorite super hero, just because I can’t read Henrik’s description of an impending update and not think “and then Superman flies and, and everyone is like ‘whoa,’ and then he grabs a car with his super strength and he smashes the bad guy like POW, BAM, POW!”

Today’s post comes from the Mortal Online forums, where Henrik has an announcement about an upcoming mount update:

Revolutionize mounts in MMOs you say? Why, that would be even better than an update that was just like Mortal Online 2, or as one deleted post put it:

Technically, MasterCrafter (if that is your real username), you left out the part where Henrik blames Epic Games. Although, if the update is as revolutionary to Mortal Online as Henrik says it is, the mounts may have the power to keep the server running online for more than ten concurrent hours without crashing.

More on Mortal Online, and what is and is not the fault of Epic China, as it appears.

Shut Up, Everquest, Get On My Horse

Pimp My Mount.

Blizzard appears to set standards wherever they go. The latest venture? A sparkling horse. Not just any sparkling horse, a sparkling horse that generated millions of dollars for Blizzard over the course of just one day. Back in May, Sony Online Entertainment announced that Everquest II would be receiving a similar update. This horse, featuring glowing eyes, was much less sparkly, and wasn’t really a horse.

Flash forward one month and Everquest II’s older brother wants in on the cash pile. Not one, not two, but four mounts are available on the Station cash shop for Everquest, for just twenty five bucks a pop, one of which is pictured above.

So your guess is as good as mine as to which MMO will be following the $25 mount, but if I had to guess I would put my bet on another Sony title.

More on Everquest as it appears.

World of Evercraft 2: Now With A $25 Mount!

Now I know what you other MMO’ers are thinking right now: World of Warcraft got a mount that generated like a billion dollars for them. Why is it that WoW can pay $25 for a mount, and I can’t?

Well those of you who do not play Everquest 2, you’re out of luck (at least for now). Those who do play Everquest 2, however, can purchase Etheral, Sinister, and Ulteran Prowlers. What does each mount do, you ask? Aside from +65% run speed, each one comes in two version: Fierce and Arcane, each differs as follows:

  • Fierce: +5 slash, +5 aggression, +5 ranged, +5 piercing, +5 crushing
  • Arcane: +5 focus, +5 ordination, +5 disruption, +5 sujbugation, +5 ministration

Sony promises that these mounts will be available at least one month, so our paranoid mount-grabbers should act quickly, assuming this turns out to be a hint that the mounts will not be around forever.

I call dibs on the $250 Allods Online mount.

New WoW Mount Generates Cash: $500,000 Per Hour

Welcome to the tip of the mountain.

I am Blizzard, and this is my new mount. She weighs one hundred and fifty kilograms, and fires custom tooled cartridges at three hundred thirty three rounds per minute. This gun generates five hundred thousand dollars, to run for one hour.

Out of date references aside, Blizzard’s new mount was the subject of a bit of speculation I was planning for yesterday, wondering how many people (aside from a lot) would be willing to pay for a $25 mount that, aside from looking gorgeous, didn’t have any extra flair. Of course, that article went right out the window when I saw the queue just to purchase the mount: one hundred forty three thousand people.

WoW.com has done some number crunching, and estimated that the flying horse mount has generated approximately half a million dollars per hour in the first hours after its release. So good on you Blizzard. Some companies get blasted for much cheaper items being too expensive, but Blizzard proves once again to be the exception to the social rule.
