Citing technical difficulties.
Jagex has not had a good week regarding RuneScape. Last Thursday a technical issue knocked RuneScape’s login servers offline for much of the day and when the servers came back online a number of accounts were unable to be recovered. The good news is that 99% of player accounts are unaffected by these technical problems. The bad news is that the 1% who are affected have kinda lost everything going back to February 8.
Last night Mod Warden posted that the team has found a solution. Since RuneScape tracks literally everything a player does, they can use telemetry data to fill in the gaps.
We are confident in a solution that is now underway, which involves taking your account saves from February 8th and merging them with telemetry data to fill the gap. Our telemetry system separately captures all game and account session information when you logout – this was not impacted and is fully intact.
Jagex ultimately decided to delay this week’s update for both titles while account recovery continues. Players should expect the next update to drop on next Wednesday instead of Thursday.
