After Epic makes the system free.
Earlier this year, Epic made Easy Anti-Cheat available on Windows for all developers for free. Now that support is getting extended to Linux users, opening the door for people to play games that might not otherwise have been available. EAC now supports Wine and Proton compatibility on Linux.
To make it easy for developers to ship their games across PC platforms, support for the Wine and Proton compatibility layers on Linux is included. Starting with the latest SDK release, developers can activate anti-cheat support for Linux via Wine or Proton with just a few clicks in the Epic Online Services Developer Portal.
More information is available on the Epic Online Services website. The rush to add this layer of compatibility may be in response to the upcoming Steam Deck and its use of Linux-based SteamOS.
