Storm King’s Thunder Hits Neverwinter On PS4/Xbox One

nw_stormkingsthunder_screenshot_02

Following its launch on PC, Neverwinter players on Xbox and Playstation are finally able to get their hands on the latest module: Storm King’s Thunder. Deployed today to live servers, the latest Neverwinter module tasks adventurers with fighting off invading giants in Icewind Dale. The update introduces a new campaign, three new adventure zones, a tier-3 dungeon, class balances, new bosses and enemies, and more.

Storm King’s Thunder begins as frost giants force their way into the northern regions of the Sword Coast, creating a call-to-arms for Neverwinter’s strongest to defend the land from these gargantuan invaders. Adventurers will travel to Bryn Shander, the largest settlement within the Ten Towns, to save the townsfolk from attack, learning a powerful artifact, the Ring of Winter, was stolen along the way. To defeat the frost giant threat, players will need to enlist the help of classic Dungeons & Dragons characters such as Catti-brie, Wulfgar and Harshnag.

Gamers on Playstation will also be able to take part in guild alliances, allowing smaller guilds to strengthen their strongholds, level them faster, and gain better rewards.

Chronicle: RuneScape Legends Launches Single Player Campaign

logosimplebackground_1476781321

Jagex has unveiled the latest major update to Chronicle: RuneScape Legends, a single player campaign that tasks players with overcoming the Trials of Radimus. The update comes alongside the addition of new dynamic chapter environments as well as global/friend chat systems.

“We’ve been planning on giving players a solo campaign mode for quite some time, so we’re really excited to see how they perform in the Trials,” said James Sweatman, lead designer, Chronicle: RuneScape Legends. “The addition of Mac support is something we’ve been asked for since our summer launch, so it’s great to be able to open the Chronicle to more players. We’ve worked hard to ensure that Chronicle: RuneScape Legends is the complete CCG package.”

Chronicle: RuneScape Legends is a card game based in the same world as RuneScape, where players build decks of powerful monsters and equipment and set their adventurers loose to tell their own stories. The game is free to play, however those of you looking to get a bit of a start can grab a free foundation pack below courtesy of Jagex. The Foundation Pack normally costs $10 and includes 10 booster packs (50 cards total), 500 platinum ingots (premium currency), 1 exclusive card back, and 500 gem shards.

The Foundation Pack can only be applied once and our keys are limited, so we politely ask that our readers do not try to trick the system to take multiple packs.

Voice Actors Are Preparing For A Strike

email_interactivedate_6

The Screen Actors Guild has announced that it will be going on strike, barring a last minute deal, against a set list of game developers over a fallout in negotiations over contract deals. The union will be reentering negotiations today, however has warned its members to be prepared in case these last minute negotiations do not come to an agreeable solution.

We head back to the table Oct. 17-19 with the goal of creating a fair contract that is rooted in industry standards and best practices. Based on past experience, we are not confident management is willing to make the changes necessary to bring this contract up to the standards of our other agreements. Unless you hear differently from us, effective Oct. 21 at 12:01 a.m., you should be prepared to strike the following video game employers with regard to all games that went into production after Feb. 17, 2015:

Developers targeted in the strike include Activision, Electronic Arts, Disney, Insomniac, WB, and Take Two, among others. So hold your Nolan North games tight, he may not be appearing in much for a while.

Cash Shop Trading Coming To Riders of Icarus

Riders of Icarus

Pop quiz: Name one way in which developers have successfully decreased gold farming while raising revenue. If you guessed tradeable cash shop items, you are correct. Riders of Icarus is the latest title to jump on board the trading bandwagon with the announcement that a new section of the shop will allow players to buy tradeable goods that can be bought and sold on the auction house.

NX Plus is a new section of Ellora’s Shop that’s coming in the next update. Riders can buy items within the NX Plus tab with NX Prepaid and those items are tradable or can be sold on the Auction House!  This new feature will allow more Riders access to more items from Ellora’s Shop. Riders who have gold but lack NX can buy these items as they’re placed on the open market, allowing those Riders access to items previously unavailable to them. Only the items purchased directly from the NX Plus tab can be traded and only when the items are not used or otherwise bound to a Rider.

What’s the catch? Unlike in other titles, the items available on the NX Plus portion of the cash shop won’t be static, they rotate in and out every so often making some items only available for a short period of time. You’ll have to catch the items you want as they are available.

gamecards_usa

Daybreak Game Company appears to be working on a new title, a large scale FPS that might be named Mythwarden. According to a number of sleuths folks on Reddit, Daybreak has opened a position for Senior Game Designer, specifically to implement core systems into a large scale FPS game. Other eyes have noticed that Daybreak has registered the domain for Mythwarden. Whether the two are related will have to be seen, for now all we can do is speculation.

And play Battlefield 1. That is also an option.

night_in_yssam

Darkfall: Unholy Wars is still dead, however while Aventurine was forced to shut down, but two companies have licensed the game and are looking to create their own reimagining of the original (and some would argue better) original Darkfall release. Rise of Agon is one of those two titles, and the folks at Big Picture Games released the latest set of patch notes today dealing with all manner of various tweaks.

For those still on the fence, you will be able to access the game for free beginning October 14th and continuing to October 24th.

On Friday, October 14th after server maintenance until the server maintenance of Monday, October 24th, Darkfall: Rise of Agon will be free to play for everyone. New players who wish to try Darkfall for the first time or players interested in trying out some of the new changes will be able to do so during this free period. We would like to call on our veterans to provide assistance and take in new players who try the game and help show them what the game has to offer. We plan to host events during this time and hope to see both new and old faces out on the battlefield! Stay tuned for more information later this week.
