Jagex Details June RuneScape Updates

scapefix

This month is a heavy one in RuneScape, as Jagex today outlined updates coming over the course of the next few weeks. Players are already well acquainted with Tuska, who began an assault on Gielinor earlier this week, tasking players with taking on daily events. Tuska won the first two days with the godless faction of players winning the next two.

Further updates this month include a slayer belt, allowing players to carry around monster hunting items without using valuable inventory spaces. Adamant and Rune Dragons are powerful monsters with even more powerful, elite versions, both of which are sure to drop good loot and present a challenge.

Later on this month, players will meet up with V in the next Freminik storyline with a replayable boss and some high level gear and monsters. The Lumbridge crater will get filled with water for a summer celebration, offering experience and cosmetics.

Also in the cards is an update to Artisan’s Workshop, with better rewards and more enjoyable gameplay.

December is upon us, and Jagex has marked the occasion by releasing a list of updates planned for the next few weeks.

First on the list is the Tirannwn Task Set, RuneScape’s answer to achievements, comprising of 54 tasks set in and around the elf lands. The task set rewards players with a farming patch, upgrades for crystal weapons, and various other goodies including an ammo slot item called the Tirannwn Quiver. Following that update, the Dominion Tower is set to receive an update. The boss-mode mini-game will be updated with new bosses, a rumble mode, and new rewards.

Also returning this month is the RuneScape Premiere Club. Only on sale for a limited time, the Premiere Club is a one-year subscription that includes a variety of rewards, from cosmetics to pets, access to VIP worlds, and extra bonuses. Also returning is the festive aura, an item which grants double experience daily for 30 minutes. Over the course of December, there will also be weekend bonuses that vary from week to week.

The Christmas event takes place over four weeks, with players engaging in a different event each week.

Jagex Opens (Limited) Members Skills To Free Players

scaperune3

In 2012, Jagex opened up a 14-day free trial for free to play players. The account is limited in regards to trading and acquiring items, and once the 14-day free trial ends, any items that are members only are unable to be used until that player purchases a subscription. With today’s release of the March developer blog, Jagex has announced some upcoming changes to the way free players are able to experience membership without the need to actually pay. Instead of a 14-day trial, free players will have access to a limited amount of the members world, as well as very limited access to members skills.

Talking of free players, we’re changing the trial system so that new players once again start off as a free player. To do this, we’re making Burthorpe and Taverley part of the free game, as well as the associated quests and training areas within it. We are also allowing free players to train members’ skills up to a maximum of level 5, giving them a taster of the kind of content there is on offer for players who subscribe.

The blog post also details Jagex’s continued fight against player-run gambling outfits.

Other alterations we intend to make this month are changes centred around the flower games and associated ‘risk’ gameplay that currently dominates the Grand Exchange. Exactly what these changes are and what form they take is going to be up to you – we’ve built a variety of solutions from rules changes, content changes and even our own versions of the games – and we’re planning on chatting to you to work out what solution works best for the community. Keep an eye on the news for details.
