[NM] Lawbreakers Population Before Free Weekend Is Fitting

Lawbreakers is currently 50% off in preparation for a free weekend which starts on Thursday and runs through Sunday, and while the sale is a nice jump on the pre-holiday mass discounts, the need for a free weekend can not be better shown than through the screenshot above. While bringing up the announcement, we seem to have hit the page at just the right time, either through statistical anomaly (servers down) or sheer luck, Lawbreakers was at 0 players. That was last night, this morning the game isn’t doing much better with a whole 14 people worldwide breaking the law.

Boss Key Studios has referred to its strategy as a marathon, not a sprint, but with the game failing to both attract new players and retain its existing customer base, it looks more like Lawbreakers is jogging in place as the competition leaves it in the dust. As a multiplayer-only game, Lawbreakers’ population issues are almost self-defeating, as people are reluctant to buy a game with a low population, thus causing more population issues. What Lawbreakers needs is a big push in players who keep coming back, say spurred by a free weekend.

Atlas Reactor: 11 Tips To Do Well

AR_ACT_EvosLabs_Elle_PlasmaVolley_01_1464944661

Atlas Reactor is the latest game from Trion Worlds, a turn-based competitive MOBA with heavy focus on twitch-based gameplay. With the free weekend starting, Trion Worlds has passed along a list of eleven tips to help players outsmart and outgun the competition.

After reading the list below, feel free to check out Atlas Reactor at no cost until June 5th.

1.  Dashes are incredibly useful. Use them to dodge Dash phase and Blast phase attacks, or even save allies by dashing into the path of a shot meant for them!
2. Sometimes the best move is standing still. Traps laid down during the Prep phase can punish players that Dash or Move.
3. Knockbacks and Pulls are very powerful when used in conjunction with Traps. These displacement effects always happen at the end of the Blast phase.
4. Being next to a wall will reduce damage taken from that direction by 50%, unless the attacker is also adjacent to you.
5. You can “chase” a player by right-clicking on an opponent (or Ally!). When you chase an opponent you will try to move where they move to. Chasers will move at the end of the Move phase.
6. If you think an enemy is going to chase you, make sure to run through some ally traps; you won’t take damage, but your enemy will!
7. Free Action abilities do not count towards the usual limit of 1 ability per turn; if you don’t use an ability, you can sprint (double movement), which can help get you back to the fight or out of a bad situation.
8. When choosing where to move, you can right-click more than once to set waypoints, which are great for moving around traps or through powerups on the way to your destination.
9. There are light indicators at the base of powerups that will tell you when they will spawn. Landing on one when all 3 light indicators are lit up means you will automatically get that powerup next round.
10. You can see powerups even in the fog of war. If you see one disappear you know an enemy is around that area.
11. During Decision Mode, mousing over an enemy will display the cooldowns of his abilities, letting you know if s/he can dash or not. Mousing over allies shows the abilities they are targeting this turn. Holding Alt will display all of this information at once. If you Alt + Click, you will ping the map.

Play Elder Scrolls Online For Free, Unless You Can’t

eso 2014-04-20 15-54-36-52

Elder Scrolls Online is free this weekend for anyone who has yet to make the purchase. Well, not everyone. Xbox One players should have no problem just getting in and starting once the weekend goes live, but everyone else is going to have some issues. First, Playstation 4 players can’t get in on the weekend at all. PC players are going to have to procure a key that will be available from various partner websites.

The free weekend runs from the 10th until the 14th this month. The lack of Playstation 4 access has been blamed on “technical issues” and the company hopes to have a free weekend for the platform when those issues are resolved. For others, the game is currently 60% off with discounts on cash shop currency.

Play The Secret World Free, August 3rd – 6th

If Trion bestows one thing on the world, it should be that your post-launch advertising should be aggressive and essentially ensure you mark every part of your potential customer’s behind with lipstick. Rift pulled this off very well with a wealth of content starting in the weeks after launch combined with regular discounts both in-store and online to where Rift sits now at $5 for a new copy at Gamestop. The Old Republic also attempted this maneuver with a number of weekend passes in an attempt to bring more people into the game who may not have tried it otherwise.

From August 3rd to August 6th, players are invited to try out The Secret World completely free of charge.

Early Access, Inactive Accounts, and Beta Accounts may all join in! If you do not currently have an account for The Secret World, you may register to participate starting today, Friday, July 27th, to have open access to this special celebration weekend!

Funcom has already announced monthly updates to keep The Secret World moving along at a pace that will hopefully ensure players have enough to do for a long time to come.

The welcome back weekend lasts from Friday to Monday, according to the email sent out by Aventurine to past subscribers. In addition, players will partake in 400% experience gain, plus a massive increase in drop-rates and items dropped by foes.

So what do you have to lose? Other than everything equipped and on your inventory.

Darkfall Free Weekend Coming

Noted Darkfall eccentric Tasos Flambouras updated the Epic Blog today with a rather short post:

In two weeks, every Darkfall account will be reactivated to participate in a free weekend with accelerated skilling and great loot.

Turn your speculate-o-meters to ten, folks. Is there going to be more news on the elusive Darkfall 2.0? Is Aventurine using this free weekend to attract their past players and gather everyone’s attention to make a big announcement?

I sure hope so. My Google rankings love a good announcement. Stay tuned after the announced announcement of the free weekend’s announcement, and I will bring you the announcement of the date for the free weekend announcement.

Champions In Court? Champions Online Free Weekend

Someone at DC Universe phones their lawyer...

While I don’t receive a substantial number of emails in regards to MMO Fallout, I have had people asking the same question lately: What happened to the Champions In Court subsection? The entire section is gone! That is true. In fact, the latest Champions In Court was released sometime in September 2009. Champions In Court quickly ran into a brick wall of no-content, as Cryptic quickly flew to the scene to start removing infringing characters. The same could be said for the idea that, as players became situated with the game, they settled on real characters rather than superhero lookalikes, and those who did settle on superhero lookalikes generally moved towards some form of parody hero, such as The Shark Knight. Oh and I was notified by someone I won’t name that making regular articles about lookalikes in Champions Online would probably inflame the situation further.

If he stops fighting crime, he'll drown.

With the upcoming free weekend, there will likely be new players creating their own Hulk/Goku lookalikes, and I may do a new Champions In Court special episode. If you want to “conveniently” find your way on to my screen, you can always stalk @Omali when the free weekend begins. I’ll be flying around Millennium City looking for lawsuits waiting to happen.

The free weekend starts on the 26th, players can download the client now over at Champions Online dot com.
