Defiance Introduces Loot Karma For Patrons

Defiance 2013-04-10 21-41-09-94

The Neo Votanis began this week and runs through October 10th, but there is more to do than simply knocking about the Shrill and Neo Votanis Front. Trion Worlds is looking to reward Patrons with armfuls of loot courtesy of the new Paradise Karma system.

Paradise Karma is simple. Complete Major Arkfall events or purchase Synergy lockboxes from the Defiance store to raise your karma. The higher your karma, the better odds of earning a jackpot, up to 100% or until you receive a jackpot and the counter resets. In addition to this system, Trion Worlds has made Patron even more enticing by upping the following perks:

  • Arkforge Gain: 100% (up from 10%)
  • Experience Gain: 100% (up from 20%)
  • Skill Gain: 100% (up from 20%)
  • Reputation Gain: 25% (up from 20%)
  • Ark Salvage Gain: 25% (up from 20%)
  • Scrip Gain: 25% (up from 20%)
  • Score Gain: 25% (up from 10%)
  • Ammo/Spike/Stim/Grenade Gain: 50% (up from 20%)

Rift: More Perks For Patrons, Less For Everyone Else

riftfae1x

Trion Worlds is improving Rift, provided you’re a paying member. If not, you might log in to find your game experience is actually worse off than when you left it. Trion Worlds has been making a few controversial decisions regarding how they monetize their games over the past week, each time noting the need to enhance revenues and support their titles with the conclusion that “it’s just business.” Today, the company announced new enhancements to Rift’s patron subscription. Subscribers will enjoy immunity to soul vitality loss, a 50% discount on auction house fees and commissions, stacking charges, rest experience, and queues for specific warfronts and dungeons.

In addition to enhancing Patron status, these changes are designed to enhance the development revenues of the game as a whole, supporting the game we all love. We are fully committed to the long-term health of RIFT, and exploring options such as these that will keep Telara evolving over time

If many of the things listed above sound like features that Rift already has, that’s because they are. In enhancing Patron, Trion Worlds is actively revoking features from free players that have been present since the game went free to play. Trion Worlds waved away criticism over removing access by free players by describing the features as “not necessary in order to play.” The changes to queues, for the unaware, means free players will only be able to queue for random dungeons.

These are of course beneficial and convenient, but not necessary in order to play RIFT. Therefore, they are the sort of thing we believe should be reserved for Patrons. When we reviewed RIFT as a whole this year, we identified this as an area we had overlooked previously. On a side note, any non-patron can group with a Patron friend, who can then select specific queues for the group. In this way, a Patron provides benefits to those around them.

Trion Worlds Promises Compensation For ArcheAge

ARCHEAGE 2014-09-17 15-25-41-92

So things haven’t gone perfectly in ArcheAge’s launch. Long queues, misappropriated rewards, missing perks, and a swath of bots and afk players have plagued the game since it went into head start. To calm players, Scott Hartsmann has penned a letter to the community, discussing how Trion Worlds is taking care of these issues.

First off, Trion Worlds has issued three new North American servers, with more players reporting less queue times. European players, unfortunately, will have to wait a little longer for their new servers as the equipment is stuck in customs and won’t be released until Tuesday at the earliest.

Secondly, the company is busy at work getting rid of gold farmers and spam accounts, with ten thousand accounts banned over the past few days. Another fix is set to get rid of a bug allowing players to hold spots indefinitely, that will go live in the coming days.

Third, patrons will be compensated for lost time. Players who were patrons as of launch day have received added time to their accounts, which was expanded with more time to more people, meaning patron time for accounts effectively began ticking down on Sunday. There are still a handful of patrons who have not received their bonuses, and Trion is working on fixing those accounts.
