Firefall’s Future On The PS4

firefall

Hello, Firefall fans,

We wanted to take some time to discuss Firefall and our plans for other platforms. Red 5 Studios cherishes the Firefall IP and we are continuing to make the game in the best way that we can. Additionally we are working to bring the IP to other platforms such as Playstation 4 and mobile.

The team deeply appreciates and embraces those that are enthusiastic about Firefall as an IP and welcome constructive ideas and feedback from all sources including former employees of the studio. Because of the enthusiasm shown we feel the value of the Firefall IP is not only recognized by gamers but the capital market as well.

While we have more plans for the Firefall IP, currently the team’s focus regarding Firefall is working to prepare the franchise for Playstation 4 and mobile. We will be sure to provide everyone with more updates as we have them. We’d like to thank all of those that have supported us and plan to continue to support the team as we continue to progress not only Firefall as a PC game but as an IP.

Best regards,
The Firefall Team

Firefall has had a bumpy ride on PC, and Red 5 Studios seems determined to save the game by starting fresh with new customers on new platforms. User count on PC has declined to incredibly low levels and only seems to be losing more people every day. Mobile and PS4 may be the only way to save the franchise and Red 5 from extinction.

The Park Out On Xbox One and PS4

The_Park_ScreenShot_3_3240

Funcom’s experimental title The Park is out today on modern consoles, letting games of all stripes to experience the same horror that PC players went through last Halloween. Set in the secret world of The Secret World, The Park puts players in the shoes of Lorraine, a mother desperately searching for her son Callum who becomes lost in the dilapidated amusement park.

“We are very excited about bringing ‘The Park’ to PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, and this launch holds special significance for us, not least because it is our first console release in almost ten years,” said Funcom CEO Rui Casais. “’The Park’ feels truly at home on PlaySation 4 and Xbox One, and it was the perfect title for us to get back on the console scene again.”

MMO Fallout reviewed The Park on PC and found it to be a fun, short game albeit highly predictable and unappealing to those outside of the “walking simulator” genre. You can check out our coverage here.

The Division Played By 6.4 Million This Weekend

TheDivision 2016-02-20 09-09-09-82

The Division’s beta this weekend set new records for beta traffic on a new IP on current generation system. All in all, 6.4 million people took part over the weekend on PC, PS4, and Xbox One. The number trounces Destiny’s previously held beta record of 4.6 million, albeit with the knowledge that Destiny came out much earlier in the console’s lifespan and did not appear on PC at all. It also doesn’t come close to the 9.5 million that played Star Wars Battlefront during its beta.

The average time played was nearly five hours, with a third of the total play time spent in the Dark Zone, the open combat area where players can freely kill each other over powerful loot. The Division releases March 8th.

Play Elder Scrolls Online For Free, Unless You Can’t

eso 2014-04-20 15-54-36-52

Elder Scrolls Online is free this weekend for anyone who has yet to make the purchase. Well, not everyone. Xbox One players should have no problem just getting in and starting once the weekend goes live, but everyone else is going to have some issues. First, Playstation 4 players can’t get in on the weekend at all. PC players are going to have to procure a key that will be available from various partner websites.

The free weekend runs from the 10th until the 14th this month. The lack of Playstation 4 access has been blamed on “technical issues” and the company hopes to have a free weekend for the platform when those issues are resolved. For others, the game is currently 60% off with discounts on cash shop currency.
