In case you really wanted to rekindle your addiction, Blizzard has announced the next Welcome Back Weekend for World of Warcraft. Running March 21 to the 24, you’ll be able to log back in and have access up to the last expansion purchased, or Legion, whichever is greater. In addition, players will be able to complete the Battle for Azeroth trial experience which allots three hours of gameplay in Battle for Azeroth (or up to a certain quest). The trial experience can be played with up to twelve characters per account.
New allies have entered the fight for Azeroth, and you’re needed on the frontlines. This weekend, we’re upgrading all inactive WoW accounts to allow you full access to the game and all of your characters without a subscription. You’ll also be able access the Battle for Azeroth™ trial experience, even if you do not own the expansion.
Rejoin your guild, rally your comrades, and get back in the fight.

Final Fantasy XIV is one of the few remaining MMOs that mandates a subscription in order to play, but you can expect Square Enix to throw in a welcome back event every now and then to try and rekindle lost love with lapsed subscribers. If you happen to be one of those people, Square wants to show you exactly what you’ve been missing these last few updates.
Beginning March 14th and running through April 13th, inactive accounts will be able to log in without an active subscription. You can’t play all of those days, mind you, the welcome back program lasts four days from the moment you first log in. Eligible accounts include anyone who has purchased and played Final Fantasy XIV and whose accounts were already inactive as of 30 days before the promotion began. So if you haven’t been playing since at least February 14th, you’re in the clear. Download the Mog Station and get to playing.
The news article suggest that anyone who does wish to take part do so before April 11th as the free time will cut off on April 13th regardless of if the player has used it all.
Check out the post below for all details regarding the event.

Final Fantasy XIV has been out for quite a while now and, most assuredly, there are bound to be many of you among the crowd who have unsubscribed for one reason or another. With the launch of 2.1: A Realm Awoken, Square Enix would like to reintroduce you to the wonders of Eorzea, or more specifically the new content. Remember that MMO, Xsyon? It launched at the beginning of 2011 after much hubbub and a few delays, and since then it’s been trucking along in the background, making great strides as it has rolled along this past year. So to bring back anyone who may have left in that time, Xsyon is offering old members ten free days starting May 18th.
Now, the free ten days is being issued over the course of about a five week period. Players will be notified of when their scheduled ten days will be in this time period. For active subscribers, Notorious Games is offering two free extra weeks added to your subscription.
Xsyon recently celebrated its first anniversary.

Good news, Telarans. Well, ex-Telarans. It’s been one year since Rift launched, and Trion wants to bring back all of its past subscribers, even those above level 20. Starting today, March 8th, and running until March 14th, anyone with a past subscription to Rift will find their accounts reactivated to join in the festivities. Take part in carnival games, enjoy the festivities, or just go back to your grind.
After the 14th, accounts without a subscription will revert back to Rift Lite, and any character that is above level 20 will be inaccessible without a subscription.

Masthead Studios just released patch 20557 on to the live server, bringing in a slew of new features including (among other things) ride-able vehicles. You can read the entire list of patch notes here. More importantly, Masthead is so proud of their patch that they want you ex-players to come back and check out all that is new with Earthrise. Starting October 21st (yesterday), players are invited to log in for fourteen days to get a feel for the world and, oh I don’t know, refill that subscription you left so long ago.
Oddly enough, Masthead Studios hasn’t made any formal announcement that I’m aware of. MMORPG.com has reported on the welcome back weeks, but I don’t believe any emails have been sent out to former players. I’ve noted in the calendar how long this program should last.
City of Heroes: Freedom, the MMO’s foray into free to play, begins sometime this coming week. To entice past players back into the game, NCsoft is reactivating old accounts ahead of time with premium membership, a tier for those who had previously subscribed to the game.
It’s important to note the warning in NCsoft’s announcement that the account reactivation is rolling and not instantaneous, so you may not get in for the first day or so. You also won’t have access to any of the VIP features, including premium power sets. posting on the forums, and a few other restrictions you can find in the side-by-side comparison sheet.
More to come on City of Heroes: Freedom, very soon.
