Kakao Games Absorbs ArcheAge Publishing

Starting in December in North America and Europe.

Here’s a news piece we didn’t quite expect today. Kakao Games announced this morning that they will be taking over publishing of ArcheAge in North America, Europe, and Oceania this December. This evidently marks the first step in a new publishing relationship between Kakao Games and XL Games that will see updates coming simultaneously for players in all regions including Korea.

It also presumably means that Gamigo will no longer have anything to do with publishing the game, news that will surely delight many of the remaining ArcheAge players or those who simply quit because of Gamigo’s “support” since the bankruptcy of Trion Games.

“We are proud to begin our journey with XL Games, and launch this partnership as publisher for ArcheAge,“ says Kakao Games CEO Kyehyun Cho. “We look forward to being an active part of this groundbreaking MMO, which has brought so many fond memories to players over the years, and supporting new and exciting endeavors under the ArcheAge banner in the future.”

The official website for the new venture is now online.
