ArcheAge Sunsetting Most Of Its Servers

Population becoming a problem at Gamigo.

When historians look back at MMOs that could have had it all but failed due to excessive greed, corporate mismanagement, and general ineptitude, ArcheAge will be on the list alongside the likes of Runes of Magic. Perpetually in controversy, regularly broken, and always figuring out new ways to burn bridges with customers, ArcheAge is once again displaying its inability to hold together a strong community with the announcement that most of the game’s servers will be closing down in March.

ArcheAge the free to play game will whittle down its six servers between North America and Europe into four. ArcheAge Unchained which has consistently underperformed financially will shutter 70% of its servers, combining the seven North America servers into two as well as the six European servers into two as well.

The merger goes forward in March and that means clearing out your mailbox, selling trade packs, and getting ready to compete against everyone else for the limited land space. On Steam ArcheAge struggles to break into triple digit concurrent players while ArcheAge Unchained currently cycles between 300-600 players at any given time.
