The Old Republic Expansion Drops Talent Trees

Story2014_4_854x480

Bioware is looking to shake up The Old Republic with update 3.0, introducing the new discipline system. The discipline system will replace the skill trees, removing the idea of receiving skill points to buy powers as you level up. Instead, players will choose between three disciplines per advanced class, receiving passive and active abilities automatically as they level up rather than purchasing at skill vendors.

The goal of disciplines is to offer a level of freedom that was not available with skill trees, allowing players to level up without worrying about gimping their characters and allowing Bioware to increase the level cap without the extensive time required to balance the newly introduced skill points.

Discipline launches on December 9th alongside the Shadow of Revan expansion.

ArcheAge Teleport Hackers Caught On Video

Need a good reason to avoid ArcheAge for the time being? Here is one, the game is filled with hackers. Not the kind of hackers that steal your account, the kind that are able to teleport throughout the game, grabbing up land as soon as it becomes available and running trade routes immediately to bring in massive amounts of gold. Bots have dominated ArcheAge since launch, and every day continue to flood the economy with gold farmed through hacks, land automatically purchased through hacks, and trader rewards achieved through hacks. You can see in the above video that there is even a bot to report people for killing other bots.

Jagex has unveiled the October update list for RuneScape. As part of the regular weekly updates, players will be able to enjoy the much anticipated ironman modes, a new mini-game, and extra tweaks to existing content. The month will spin off with a Halloween themed event and quest, and players will be able to view the Runefest stream on October 11th.

  • Ironman mode: no trade, no cooperative minigames, no treasure hunter, no lootshare, no gifts. Can you make it through RuneScape completely on your own? Go even further with hardcore ironman mode, featuring permanent death.
  • Smarter familiars: Combat familiars will join in a fight immediately, along with multiple other updates to the Summoning system.
  • Drop tables: Ghosts and beasts will see their drop table reworked for better loot.

Jagex recently conducted a question and answer session with the VIP members (people who purchased the premiere club membership this year), and if you aren’t a member you can’t access the forums. The list is massive, so instead of reproducing the Q&A 1:1 and likely crashing this website, I’ve decided to consolidate the answers into an easily digestible list.

If you don’t play RuneScape, many of these answers will mean nothing to you. You can read the Q&A in its entirety at the Tip.It forums.

ArcheAge Update Targets Chat Spam

ARCHEAGE 2014-09-24 15-36-41-38

Today’s update to ArcheAge goes up in under an hour, followed by three to five hours of downtime. Version 1.2 build 4.11 introduces a few convenience changes to the game: The Kraken can only be damaged by siege weapons, trial chat can now only be used by participants in a trial, healer weapons are now rewarded in quests, and warehouse expansion has had its cap increased. To fight bots, Trion is introducing a level restriction for chat channels:

  • Chatting in the Faction, Shout, Trade, Need Party, and Nation chat channels is now restricted to characters that are level 15 and higher.

No, this update will not stop chat spam. The goal, and what this update will accomplish, is to put a stop to the seemingly never ending cycle of spam accounts creating a level one character, typing once in chat, and then deleting said character in order to bypass the ignore list. Of course, a chat filter would also be nice.

Destiny Patch 1.0.2 Drops, Increases Loot

10551590_10152733524134600_696840756841202733_o

Bungie has dropped patch 1.0.2 onto the Destiny servers, as announced late last month. The patch makes several changes to the way loot works, by ensuring that engrams (loot boxes) will always decrypt into an item of the engram’s level or higher. Legendary engrams are now guaranteed to result in legendary items, and rare engrams have an increased chance of legendary gear. Ascendant shards and energy have been promoted in rank to legendary.  Rare and legendary engrams have also been added as potential drops for daily and weekly heroics, as well as the Tiger Strike playlist.

The Elder Scrolls Online Guild Summit Chronicled

eso 2014-04-12 09-28-21-28

Zenimax Studios recently invited the leaders of twenty guilds to come visit the offices and learn more about future updates to Elder Scrolls Online. The invitees have not been placed under any sort of nondisclosure agreement, and as such are currently in the midst of sharing all that they know with the outside world. The folks over at Tamriel Foundry have begun uploading details on upcoming updates as well as developer responses to Q&A sessions.

The amount of information is overwhelming, and this is only for the first day. According to the post, there is plenty more to come. If you have some free time, check out the write-up at the link below.
