DC Universe Online Focuses on 2017 Updates

581

Daybreak Game Company has released their outward look for 2017 for DC Universe Online, and the content is looking pretty fancy. To end off the year, Daybreak will once again have an open episode period, allowing players to access (virtually) all episodes regardless of membership or content ownership. Next year’s updates will include large content updates:

First, just to doubly reiterate, we are continuing development on large content releases (Episodes), similar to what you are experiencing with Amazon Fury Part III. We know how important new story, new characters, and new primary progression is to everyone’s fun in the game. We are very pleased so far with the new gear system implemented in Episode 27. While we are looking at feedback for minor improvements, the core concepts of the best gear being on the vendor, auto-leveling dropped gear, and so on, remains the plan going forward.

In addition, Daybreak is continuing work on the planned revamp of player stats, item and gear sets, NPC stats, and more. Seasonal events will also be making their way into the game, with the first tasking heroes and villains with taking on the Anti-Monitor, an powerful adversary capable of tearing apart entire universes. You can read the entire list of planned updates at the link below.

(Update: Clarified that DC Universe is the first game to be released)

When Daybreak Game Company spun off of its Sony corporate overlords, most of us assumed and hoped that this would lead to their titles eventually being released on the Xbox. That speculation has come to fruition with the announcement that DC Universe Online will be hitting Xbox One later this spring. The console release will include the full game and all 20 currently released episodes. According to Game Informer, the release will also come with updates for all systems tying in the game with the Legends of Tomorrow television show.

A number of quality of life updates are coming as well, including account-wide unlocks for gear and styles, as well as cross-platform play between PC and Playstation with Xbox players on their own servers.

Hopefully this means more of Daybreak’s games coming to Xbox such as Planetside 2 and Everquest Next.

Gamers in Southeast Asia have been waiting patiently to get their hands on the superhero MMO known only as DC Universe Online, and their wait is finally over. Following the closed beta, servers will open for the full launch today, in just a couple of hours from this writing.

Players participating in the closed beta were able to keep their characters for the full launch. To sweeten the deal, Asiasoft has revealed that players who level at least two characters to 30 during the launch period will be entered into a contest to win a pair of round trip tickets and accommodation to attend SOE Live in August.
