The Secret World Legends Hits In June

Funcom’s reboot of The Secret World, dubbed Secret World Legends, has been confirmed for a June 26 release date. The title is making the transition from buy-to-play fully fledged MMO to a free to play shared world experience with revamped combat, upgraded visuals, and more.

Secret World Legends plunges players into a shadowy war against the supernatural in an adventure that crosses our world with the realms of ancient myth and legend. As players traverse the globe unraveling complex investigations into the unknown, they’ll need to uncover clues and use their own wits as much as their characters’ abilities. A highly extensive and customizable arsenal of firearms, weapons, gear and otherworldly powers will give players the strength to battle the forces of darkness as they dig deeper into these vast and mysterious lands. Players can go at it alone and enjoy the over 100 hours of story at their own pace, or team up with others as they explore the world and unravel its mysteries.

Characters from the current The Secret World incarnation will not transfer over to the new game when it launches in June. For more information, check out the video below or head over to the official website.

RuneScape’s First Expansion Hits June 5th

RuneScape is set to shake things up with the launch of Menaphos: The Golden City of June 5th. The update takes players to the lost city of Menaphos, an area first hinted at over a decade ago and finally opened to the public. Players won’t find themselves so easily welcomed by the citizens of Menaphos, and instead must work to increase their reputation among the city and go from outsider to exalted. The update brings with it an ever-changing network of tombs to plunder, new quests, a new slayer dungeon, as well as an increased slayer level cap: 120 from 99.

“RuneScape has always been underpinned with the telling of great stories and quests, and launching RuneScape Expansions – beginning with Menaphos: The Golden City – allows us to do that in an entirely new way,” said David Osborne, Lead Designer, RuneScape. “We’re working hard to ensure this gleaming metropolis eclipses the Menaphos that’s been in the imagination of our many millions of players for more than a decade, and we can’t wait to share more details over the coming weeks before the gates open.”

Menaphos is the first piece of content to be released under RuneScape’s new content system, focusing on massive expansions every three months. You can find the new trailer on the official Youtube channel, or below on this page.

Jagex Details June RuneScape Updates

scapefix

This month is a heavy one in RuneScape, as Jagex today outlined updates coming over the course of the next few weeks. Players are already well acquainted with Tuska, who began an assault on Gielinor earlier this week, tasking players with taking on daily events. Tuska won the first two days with the godless faction of players winning the next two.

Further updates this month include a slayer belt, allowing players to carry around monster hunting items without using valuable inventory spaces. Adamant and Rune Dragons are powerful monsters with even more powerful, elite versions, both of which are sure to drop good loot and present a challenge.

Later on this month, players will meet up with V in the next Freminik storyline with a replayable boss and some high level gear and monsters. The Lumbridge crater will get filled with water for a summer celebration, offering experience and cosmetics.

Also in the cards is an update to Artisan’s Workshop, with better rewards and more enjoyable gameplay.

Less Massive: GFWL Not Shutting Down

MarvelGame 2014-05-19 15-08-48-84

So, it turns out Games For Windows Live isn’t shutting down next week. According to a statement by Microsoft, you will still be able to download titles from the Games for Windows Live client as usual, however customers will not be able to purchase games or receive title updates.

“As previously announced, as part of the retirement of Microsoft Points the Xbox.com PC marketplace was closed. Although customers are unable to purchase new games from the marketplace or receive title updates, they can continue to enjoy previously purchased content by downloading them through the Games for Windows Live client as usual. We remain committed to investing in PC gaming in the years ahead, and look forward to sharing more in the future.”

Presumably features like achievements will continue to function as well, online play may be dependent on the game.

Age of Conan Director Letter

tsw_gd_letter_jan2013-612x337-612x337

Funcom has released Age of Conan’s Game Director Letter for June 2013, discussing the upcoming server mergers, achievements, and more. Foremost, the process to bring all of Age of Conan under one mega-server is still going according to plan, taken on in phases in order to reduce downtime as much as possible. The next phase of the operation is to merge the US and EU servers together, which should be completed by the end of the summer. As part of the merger, Funcom will be archiving characters that have been inactive for a very long time. Note that this is different from when Funcom simply deleted low level, inactive characters nearly three years ago. An archived character will be accessible, according to the post, it will simply take a bit longer to load them the first time as they are pulled from archive.

Also noted in the letter are upcoming stability fixes and dungeon revamps. In response to community feedback, Funcom is looking into adding achievements to Age of Conan and is soliciting suggestions on how they should be implemented.
