Guardians of Ember Is Shutting Down Again

Guardians of Ember is the game that just would not survive. Guardians of Ember, who MMO Fallout readers might remember when original publisher Insel Games was booted off of Steam, is shutting down once again. The last time around Insel Games managed to get Guardians of Ember removed from Steam by manipulating reviews. This time it appears to be good old difference of opinion.

Gameforge took over publication back in January 23, 2019 and it looks like after a year’s probationary period Runewaker is no longer interested in working with them.

So what led to Gameforge losing the rights to Guardians of Ember? Only Gameforge and Runewaker know for sure, but we’re willing to bet it has to do with the gross mismanagement of the relaunch with Gameforge failing to secure replacement on Steam even one year later.

Is this the end for Guardians of Ember? There is always hope of Runewaker finding a new publisher or self-publishing. Tomorrow is another day.

Guardians of Ember Enters Open Beta…Again

Guardians of Ember is now in the open beta phase. Fans of MMOs featuring high-adrenaline carnage can download the game now and get straight into the action!

Guardians of Ember, the hack and slash title from Runewaker, has entered open beta for the second time. You may remember Guardians of Ember as the game that was pulled from Steam after publisher Insel Games was caught trying to publish fake reviews for Guardians of Ember and Wild Buster. Now published by Gameforge, the title is looking to make a strong return to Steam and other store fronts.

Dragon’s Prophet Shutting Down In November

dragons-prophet-black-dragon

North American players will no longer have access to Dragon’s Prophet after November 16th, as Daybreak has announced that the service will be coming to an end. While the game will still be available in Europe and Asia, there are no plans to allow players to transfer their characters over to these other publishers. In the announcement, Daybreak thanked the community for their support.

We are extremely grateful to all the Dragon’s Prophet community members and appreciate the support we’ve received from each and every one of you. We plan to make additional seasonal content and items available during the final weeks of the game and hope you enjoy them.

If you look back at the past year or so, the signs of the demise of Dragon’s Prophet are likely written on the walls. Dragon’s Prophet was suspiciously left out of the Daybreak All Access pass, leading many to speculate that Daybreak would ultimately be parting ways with Runewaker.

MMOrning Shots: Here Sheepy

dp_x64 2013-09-27 00-20-48-22

I’m in the middle of taking a look at Dragon’s Prophet, and I want to impart a lesson upon Runewaker: First impressions are everything, and that means making sure your opening quests actually work. There is a particularly annoying quest at level five where you have to let this woman spray you with a vanilla mist in order to entice the sheep into following you back to the pen. Problem: Only one of the sheep actually works. The others just ignore you no matter how much you run around them, there is no button to press that will force them to follow you, and you only have 60 seconds until the spray runs out and you have to go back and get another. So what should have been an easy quest turned into fifteen minutes of finding the one sheep that would respond, bringing it back to the pen, waiting for it to respawn, getting sprayed, and repeating.

On the plus side, I won’t need sleeping pills when I go to bed tonight, since I’ve been counting sheep.

MMOrning Shots: Dragon’s Prophet

Today’s MMOrning Shot comes from Sony Online Entertainment and Runewaker, for the upcoming MMO Dragon’s Prophet. Players can capture, train, and ride their own dragons, and if this screenshot has anything to say, there are also towns and large pointless steering wheels? Imagine if that thing broke and fell off, you’d have a few dozen people dead! Dragon’s Prophet needs and equivalent of OSHA.

MMOrning Shots is a (somewhat) daily line of screenshots from various MMOs. Most are taken in-house or come to us in press releases, but if you would like your screenshot featured, send it over to contact[at]mmofallout[dot]com with the subject “MMorning Shots.”
