Fun fact: Today’s MMOrning Shot could not be uploaded in its original .png format because it somehow ended up being nearly sixty megabytes. Figure that one out.
If you ever want proof that a good chunk of people still play Defiance, just check out one of the game’s many Arkfall events. Arkfalls are a great place to go through your stockpile of weapons and figure out which are worth keeping or need to be thrown away. Check out Defiance at http://www.defiance.com/

That hat is ridiculous, and I must have it. Today’s MMOrning Shot comes to us from Red 5 Studios and their open world shooter Firefall. There isn’t anything particularly spooky or scary about Firefall’s Halloween event, but there are skeletons. Kind of. Did you know that Firefall is valued at $100 million? Check out the open beta at http://www.firefallthegame.com/

No, I’m not here for candy, and if you rustle my head one more time I will stab you.

I have a deep hatred for mass-group bosses in MMOs. There isn’t anything appealing to me about a creature that requires at least thirty people beating on it for fifteen minutes straight, if not longer, and can flick its wrist and kill most of the support or DPS classes in one or two unavoidable hits. You don’t know what is going on because the clutter of people has caused an information overload in terms of flashing lights and swords swinging about, and the sheer number of people present cause the game to lag and FPS to drop, and soon you’re in a slideshow.
So mass-group bosses just aren’t my thing.

Today’s MMOrning Shot is a rather old screenshot from Line of Defense, the upcoming MMO shooter from 3000AD. Why is this significant? Next quarter, 3000AD is set to launch a companion app for Line of Defense in the form of a top down real time strategy squad shooter for iOS and Android. The crux of the game is that it features squad based combat set in the same world as Line of Defense, with the ability to outfit your troops and send them into battle. While the bulk of the game is in the single player strategy, the app will also serve as a companion for the full MMO, offering detailed information on the world’s inhabitants and their motives.
Line of Defense Tactics is set to go live next quarter.
