EG7 Transfers Planetside 2 To Itself

Leaves us wondering.

Daybreak Game Company is no stranger to selling itself to itself, see the sale to EG7 for example. And they’re doing it again, as the company announced this week that Planetside 2 will be moving development over to Toadman Interactive.

And who is Toadman Interactive? Probably not a criminal Russian oligarch unlike that other guy. They’re a different subsidiary of EG7. The developer is working on Block’n’Load2 as well as cooperative shooter EvilVEvil.

We are excited to announce that our team at Toadman Interactive is taking over development duties for PlanetSide 2. Our colleagues at Rogue Planet Games have created a unique gaming experience that has thrived for over a decade. We have assembled a team of developers who have many years of experience working on Massively Multiplayer Online games and First Person Shooters.

What does this mean? Nobody really knows. We’ll have to wait and see.

Rev up those speculation engines, kids.

  1. I’d say it means the usual: ‘We can’t be arsed with this aged cock cheese anymore so we will dump it on some no-consequence dumping ground, err, we mean – ‘subsidiary studio.”

    1. The big question is what is happening to Rogue Planet Games, because EG7 repeatedly lies to the public about what’s going on with their studios. Are they getting laid off? Are they shifting them to other projects? We know Daybreak sure as hell isn’t working on any new games.

      1. Of course they lie, they need to fool the public and the investors into believing that everything is sliding along as smoothly as a baby’s oiled arse. Which surely is not the case here.

Anyway, i’d say that since they threw their ol’ cock-cheese away somewhere, this move potentially frees some hands for some development work. So either we will be hearing an announcement about a new game they’ll begin developing soon or.. we will hear an announcement about some lay offs and sales. Heheh.
