Daybreak Retires The H1Z1 Test Server

When there’s nothing to test, you don’t need it.

H1Z1 or Z1 Battle Royale as it is known on PC doesn’t get content updates anymore, so it makes sense that Daybreak Game Company wouldn’t have any need for a test server. So it wouldn’t exactly be surprising for me to deliver the news that the H1Z1 test server has been officially retired from publication on Steam.

Which brings us to today’s news that the H1Z1 test server has been officially retired from Steam. Bet you didn’t see that coming. Yes at roughly 17:30 UTC today, Daybreak Game Company has pulled the test server from distribution, the Steam page now displaying the following message:

Notice: At the request of the publisher, Z1 Battle Royale: Test Server is no longer available for sale on Steam.

The future of H1Z1 has been up in the air for quite a while now, with speculation more than absent since Daybreak split off its titles into their own subdivisions with absolutely no acknowledgement given to Z1 Battle Royale or its younger, theoretically supported cousin H1Z1 on the Playstation 4.
