Kakao Discovers List of Compromised Accounts, Locks Them
If your Black Desert account has been locked, there is good reason. Kakao this week reported that they discovered a list of compromised account information and have taken steps to lock the accounts to prevent any further damage. The leak, according to Kakao, was not associated with any of Kakao services and may not include all accounts affected by breach of a third party service.
Those with locked accounts are encouraged to contact Kakao customer support with the following details.
- You must contact us from the new email address you created.
- State the email address your account is currently associated with.
- A photo of your photo ID card, taken in front of today’s physical newspaper clearly showing the date, or over your screen showing your open ticket needs to be added as an attachment to the ticket. Please understand we will have to delete the tickets with the incorrectly added pictures, which may slow down the process for you.
- Please obscure the identity number and pass photo before you send or scan us a copy of your ID.

ZX Spectrum Websites Taken Over By Internet Trolls

It looks like the tribulations of Retro Computers Ltd never seem to cease. In an update posted to Indiegogo backers today, Retro Computers Ltd has warned that their domains have been taken over by a third party and are redirecting to other websites (full announcement below). The zxvega.co.uk domain now redirects to a website “Bum Fun Gaming,” who hosts a Youtube channel heavily criticizing the company while the retro-computers.co.uk domain is forwarding viewers to a website that has been archiving the events of the Vega+ crowdfunding campaign.
It is unknown at this time what involvement, if any, the hosts of these websites have. While Retro Computers Ltd. is referring to this incident as a security breach, domain records for both websites suggest that both domains were not renewed by a third party company put in charge of managing said domains, and as such both were opened up to the public. RCL has denied these claims and is stating that they owned the domains until 2018.
We have been made aware that late yesterday afternoon a security breach occurred on a number of domains belonging to Retro Computers Limited. This includes the zxvega.co.uk and retro-computers.co.uk URLs
We do not currently have control of these domains and an unauthorised third party has taken over these accounts. We we are working to recover our property from this person or persons whom we have identified and reported to Action Fraud and the Metropolitan police.
For security reasons please only contact us through the Indiegogo portal and not via emails that contain either URL We will provide a new email address for team members in the very near future.
Do not send any personal details via email and this information may not be secure.
Path Of Exile May Have Been Breached, Passwords Protected Says GGG

Grinding Gear Games may have been the latest victim of internet shenanigans, as Grinding Gear Games has announced that it is investigating a potential breach of the servers from March 13 to 23. The developer is unaware of any potential information theft, however has assured users that not only is payment information not stored on site, that passwords are salted and hashed, and therefore would take a long time for any hacker to crack. GGG still recommends changing your password if you’re one of the many people who use the same password to get into Path of Exile as you do for your luggage, “12345.”
We do not store any payment information like credit card numbers. It is stored at the external payment processors we use. There is no way that credit card information could have been accessed.
The information that may have been taken includes email addresses, salted and hashed passwords, recent IP addresses used to access the game and website, as well as a physical address if the person had physical goods mailed to them. As of right now, users are not being forced to change their passwords.

Breach not only includes new monsters to fight, it also improves the game’s engine and marks the launch of the 64-bit client. GGG promises a faster, smoother experience with technical improvements like a new fog and cloth system, as well as graphical improvements to earlier areas of the game.
Supporters who wish to show their love by opening their wallets can get their hands on two new packs with exclusive cosmetics and titles.

EA Denies Origin Breach, Change Your Password Anyway
Electronic Arts has denied that the Origin service was the victim of a security breach, in a statement to PC Gamer. The statement comes in response to an article published earlier from a surge in users reporting unauthorized games being purchased on their accounts.
“We found no indication at this point of a breach of our Origin account database.”
Account thieves appear to be mostly using compromised accounts to purchase Fifa 2015 and using the accounts to farm coins. Users have reported little trouble in getting EA to reverse the charges, and are encouraged to not have credit card details stored on the account, and to implement the client’s two factor authentication.
Derp Trolling, a hacker group, claimed to have 1.7 million Origin accounts. Whether or not this apparent surge in compromised accounts is related is unknown.

WoW Insider is reporting that Blizzard’s Mobile Armory app has been hacked, with reports from players that their accounts were breached and used to make overpriced purchases as a method of laundering gold from the account. The reports included accounts with authenticators attached, and the breach appears to have involved both North American and European customers.
The report states that Blizzard GMs have apparently confirmed the breach, advising that players make use of WoW’s SMS authentication. Blizzard has taken down the mobile auction house for maintenance with no direct reference to the alleged breach.

The War Z Shutdown Following Security Breach

OP Productions has issued a warning to its customers via email that the game and forums have been shut down temporarily following a security breach being discovered. Hackers allegedly got ahold of email addresses, encyrpted passwords, however payment information was not exposed as all payments are processed through a third party.
We have engaged outside experts and investigators to assist in our investigation of this incident and committed substantial resources to that effort. We have identified number of ways access was obtained and have enhanced our security to improve game and forum safety. We are undertaking a full review and update of our servers and the services we use and adding additional security mechanisms.
