What Happened: Global Adventures Abandoned And Left To Die


Global Adventures is a game that MMO Fallout gave away beta keys for back in December 2017, and the fact that so many keys were left to grab is probably an early warning that the game was going to go down like a wet fart. Actually, the fact that the game shut down rather quickly in China should be the first indication that a release westward would be a commercial failure, but here we are.

Like many of its kind, Global Adventures hit closed beta and then…disappeared. The last Tweet sent out by the Global Adventures account is from January 6, 2018. The latest news post on Steam is for maintenance on February 16, 2018. There are reviews in March that suggest the server was still online at that point, followed by a review in July noting the server being dead.

In their infinite disregard for community relations, Suba Games has never acknowledged the abandonment of Global Adventures, nor did they allow for refunds from players who purchased packs only to have the game abandoned in beta. Months later, they haven’t even bothered taking the game off of Steam or delisting it from their website. In fact, the only official acknowledgment comes from Suba’s community manager, who points to the developer PixelSoft suddenly disappearing after failing to fix major bugs in the game.

“I would like to clarify this time around that Suba Games is a publisher, not a developer. The developer for Global Adventures is PixelSoft, who seemingly disappeared after constantly failing to fix major bugs and making excuses about it. This makes it so Suba Games cannot deliver their promises of giving out exclusive rewards during open beta, as there probably never will be an open beta. Of course, I do not agree with the idea of selling early access and opening a closed beta cash shop when the developers have proven to be shoddy already.

“Since PixelSoft abandoned the game, there’s nothing Suba Games can do but to follow suit and abandon the game as well. Again, this does not excuse the terrible business decisions Suba Games ended up making to disappoint the fanbase of the game, especially with their no refund policy.”

Invest In Entropia Online Property, Gain Real World Dosh


In the first half of 2019, gamers will have the opportunity to buy shares in digital property within the game Entropia Universe. The Crystal Palace, which was sold in 2009 to its current private owner, is selling 500,000 shares for the low cost of $1 each. Shareholders receive a proportional cut of the loot collected across all four domes in the form of PED, which can then be converted and cashed out into real world money.

Talk about a game that plays itself.

Asta La Vista: Asta Online Servers To Shut Down


Following its re-launch in April this year, Asta Online developer Polygon Games has announced that the title will shut down next month. Players are asked to contact Steam in regards to any refund requests over in-game items. The termination notice has been pasted below for brevity.

Minions of Mirth Goes Offline, But Single Player Still Functions


Cult indie MMORPG Minions of Mirth: Undead Wars is dead, long live the single player Minions of Mirth! Minions of Mirth is a rather quaint fantasy MMO that many of you may not have heard of until right this very moment. Following a hard drive failure on September 18, the official MoM Twitter account announced late last week that the servers will be down indefinitely. Minions of Mirth launched in 2005 and can take the credit of being free to play before the genre was cool.

Duke Nukem Licensed Out To MMOARPG Wild Buster


MMOARPG Wild Buster dubs itself a “gritty science fiction hack’n’slash MMORPG” with PvP, PvE, and now apparently Duke Nukem. In an announcement posted today, developer Insel Games announced that the Duke would be joining the roster of heroes. No piracy here, the inclusion of the babe-rescuing, cigar smoking, Ash parody is fully licensed with the blessing of Gearbox. Insel Games also hints in its Indiegogo campaign that more than one character may be from another property.

Nexon Celebrates Chaos Chronicle One Year Anniversary


Nexon America is currently celebrating the one year anniversary of Chaos Chronicle, 2D mobile MMORPG available on Android and iOS, and is hosting a variety of events over the course of this week. The content, listed below, is available for new and returning players and includes a new Play Points gameplay feature to assist players in obtaining rewards.

  • Special Attendance Disciple Contract – Get the Disciple Contract and receive access to powerful Special Heroes and numerous popular items such as rare Rubies and formidable Elite Accessories just by logging on between Aug. 3 and Sept. 6;
  • Increased Hero Contract Mileage – Sign-in between July 30 and Aug. 6 to receive an unprecedented 150 percent mileage increase on all player Hero Contracts purchased in the shop;
  • New Play Points Gameplay Element – Play Points are earned by completing in-game quests. Players can acquire up to 30 unique rewards, including the mighty Disciple Equipment Box, a Hero Selection Contract and an Elite Accessory Box;
  • Limited-Time Discounted Items: Between July 30 and Aug. 6, players have the opportunity to refine equipment for a 50 percent discount on valuable Rubies.

Perfect World/Cryptic Announce Magic: The Gathering MMORPG


Perfect World Entertainment and Cryptic Studios have announced that an MMORPG based on Magic: The Gathering is coming to PC and consoles. The announcement comes directly from Cryptic Studios, and while there isn’t much in the way of details (those are coming later), the developer did announce that the game is being built from the ground up for both PC and console systems. Going by Perfect World’s other titles, it makes sense that the game should come to both Xbox and Playstation 4.

The world’s most popular strategy card game, Magic: The Gathering transforms players into Planeswalkers, powerful mages who can travel between planes, cast spells and summon mythical creatures. The beloved trading card game has over 20 million fans across more than 70 countries, and is available in 11 languages. Perfect World Entertainment and Cryptic Studios’ new RPG will allow fans of the game to fully immerse themselves in the Multiverse, the rich fantasy world in which Magic: The Gathering takes place.

Black Desert Online Hits Steam: 40% Off This Month


Black Desert Online is available to purchase on Steam, right now! To celebrate the launch of the action MMO on Steam’s platform, players can snag a copy for 40% off for the rest of the month. That means getting in on the action will cost as little as $6. There will also be several in-game sales as well as a few drop events going on until the end of the month. In anticipation of a flood of players, Kakao Games has set up extra servers to share the load.

To better support the additional influx of players, Kakao Games will employ extra Olvia speed servers, some of which will be exclusively reserved to cater for new players that are coming through Steam. Users can choose to play on the exclusive servers or to jump into the greater community straight away. Special “Olvia” servers will help players to level-up quickly and catch up with the existing Black Desert Online community.

Pay to Win: The Exiled Has No Time For That


The Exiled is an upcoming MMORPG hitting ground February 23, and the development team over at Fairytale Distillery want you to know that their game has no place for pay to win tactics. For starters, everyone access to a seven day free trial which can be extended indefinitely with a simple one time payment of $19.99 minimum.

Your payment allows you to reserve one character name forever, one character slot per season, a cosmetic title, avatar picture, frame, and background, and unique skins for tier 0 equipment. Higher tiers reward various skins and pets, and even the soundtrack and art book, but you won’t be able to buy in-game power. The top purchase tiers do reward a higher fame gain (unlocking account ranks) and extra daily challenge slots.

Fairytale Distillery’s latest press release also notes that certain regions including Russia and Brazil will have lower local prices.
