Perfect World Entertainment has announced a new set of bonuses for Neverwinter set to go live November 24th and continue until the 29th. Players will enjoy double the rate of gain for experience, RP, Astral Diamonds, Guild Marks, Enchants, and Runes. The bonus launches at 7:30am on PC and 10am on consoles. Times are Pacific.
Perfect World Entertainment has dug itself into a controversy this week as the company made the announcement that loot previews are being removed from lockboxes. According to a post on the main website, although this feature has been in the game for a long time, it is evidently a bug. As such, the “bug” is being removed.
Since this bug has been live for a long time and we believe that some players may have come to rely on this bug, we are providing advance notice of the change.
Unsurprisingly, players are responding angrily on the forums with players calling fowl on Perfect World’s attempt to explain away a confirmation screen as an unintended function.
Following its launch on PC, Neverwinter players on Xbox and Playstation are finally able to get their hands on the latest module: Storm King’s Thunder. Deployed today to live servers, the latest Neverwinter module tasks adventurers with fighting off invading giants in Icewind Dale. The update introduces a new campaign, three new adventure zones, a tier-3 dungeon, class balances, new bosses and enemies, and more.
Storm King’s Thunder begins as frost giants force their way into the northern regions of the Sword Coast, creating a call-to-arms for Neverwinter’s strongest to defend the land from these gargantuan invaders. Adventurers will travel to Bryn Shander, the largest settlement within the Ten Towns, to save the townsfolk from attack, learning a powerful artifact, the Ring of Winter, was stolen along the way. To defeat the frost giant threat, players will need to enlist the help of classic Dungeons & Dragons characters such as Catti-brie, Wulfgar and Harshnag.
Gamers on Playstation will also be able to take part in guild alliances, allowing smaller guilds to strengthen their strongholds, level them faster, and gain better rewards.
With Neverwinter’s next big update on the way, the team at Perfect World Entertainment has released a new developer blog detailing a couple of the new systems. With the Sea of Moving Ice update, players will gain access to their own khyeks, a personal boat that will allow them to navigate the open waters. In addition to providing safe voyage and preventing you from becoming the next Jack Dawson, khyeks also open access to a new form of fishing.
In fishing, you’ll be able to set your own bait, cast your line, set your hook, and reel in some big catches. The list of fish to add to your collection is pretty big (see above), but there’s more than just snagging sea life. Adventurers will also be able to find treasure maps tucked away in bottles, leading to all sorts of loot including high tier fishing rods and khyeks.
Perfect World Entertainment has announced that Sea of Moving Ice, the followup to Neverwinter’s latest expansion Storm King’s Thunder, will launch November 8th. Picking up where Storm King’s Thunder left off, Sea of Moving Ice will see players sent to take on Jarl Storvald, a new villain who threatens to cover the land in a permanent winter.
Sail the seas in your new boat, see what new fish you can catch from the icy depths, discover parts of a treasure map, and hunt down pieces of the new artifact weapons.
Sea of Moving Ice hits shore on November 8th. For more information, check out the official website.
Neverwinter’s Gateway has always been a problem for Perfect World Entertainment. On its face, it is an amazingly useful tool where players can manage their inventories, buy and sell goods, level up skills, and play Sword Coast Adventures. It wasn’t available for the PS4 or Xbox, but those on PC managed to get quite a bit of use out of it. On the developer side, however, it was a nightmare. To put it short: Gateway was far too easy for bots to abuse.
Despite numerous attempts at curbing farmable resources, Perfect World Entertainment has been unable to keep the service useful while also preventing its use by bots. As a result, Gateway has shut down. Players who recently used the feature will receive a free companion.
Dungeons & Dragons: Neverwinter is celebrating more than twelve million players across three consoles, with more than two million of those fighting on the Playstation 4. Of the 3.2 million characters created on PS4 so far, 32,000 have achieved the level cap in the past two months. Altogether, players have earned over 50 billion Astral Diamonds, 18 million mounts, and 11,000 guilds.
You can see all of the juicy statistics in a handy infographic below. In addition, Perfect World Entertainment is holding a series of events including double experience and glory, double enchants and Astral Diamonds, and a free static PS4 theme.

Frost giants have forced their way into Icewind Dale, creating a call-to-arms forNeverwinter’s strongest to defend the land from these gargantuan invaders. Adventurers will travel to Bryn Shander, the largest settlement within the Ten Towns, to save the townsfolk from attack. To defeat the frost giants, players will need to enlist the help of classic Dungeons & Dragons characters as they explore different regions. This includes heroes like Catti-brie, Wulfgar and Harshnag. A full list of gameplay updates available with the release of Storm King’s Thunderincludes:
New Campaign – The new end-game campaign for Storm King’s Thunder is broken down into three parts, each unlocking a new adventure zone. When all three zones are cleared, players will have access to the dungeon on Fangbreaker Island.
Three New Adventure Zones
Bryn Shander – Adventurers must visit this remote settlement in Icewind Dale to save its inhabitants from attackers.
Lonelywood – After clearing Bryn Shander, players will move on to the town of Lonelywood, where they will fight off trolls and other beasts.
Cold Run – The last adventure zone is the frigid coastline of Cold Run, where adventurers will come face to face with the mighty frost giants.
New Tier 3 Dungeon – Adventurers will need to complete the new Storm King’s Thunder campaign and equip their characters with high-level gear in order to access Fangbreaker Island, the most difficult five-player dungeon in the game.
Class Balance Adjustments – In an ongoing effort to maintain balance for Neverwinter, we’ve made major adjustment to three classes, the Hunter Ranger, Scourge Warlock and Guardian Fighter.
New Bosses and Enemies – Besides defending the land from Frost Giants, players will fight off swarms of arctic beasts, as well as three new bosses who rule over Fangbreaker Island.
Players in Neverwinter on PS4 are finding that logging out in certain areas causes the game to break, freezing upon re-entry with no fix in sight (including reinstalling the game from scratch). The problem, it appears, is not on the client’s end but on the server’s side.
The issue hasn’t been fixed yet, but there is a quick fix that will get the game working for you.
On certain occasions, loading out of Helm’s Hold, Vellosk and a few other maps, and then logging back in will result in the game freezing on the loading screen. To work around this issue, log into an alternate character, then switch back. You may also submit a ticket to our support at support.arcgames.com.
