ArcheAge Producer Letter Discusses Security, Servers

producers-letter_blog

ArcheAge senior producer Merv “Khrolan” Lee Kwai has posted a new producer letter for April 2016, discussing a range of topics from security to server structure. The post starts out by commenting that the western ArcheAge is only one update behind the Korean version.

So where does ArcheAge stand? You may recall Trion warning not too long ago that they would no longer be going easy on certain players for “minor offenses” and had sent a final warning to correct their behavior. The end result, naturally, is that not everyone responded and as a result players were banned. So far this year, 750,000 accounts have been banned for a variety of offenses from gold farming to bot use.

While some players took us up on our offer and corrected their actions, others didn’t and found themselves permanently banned from ArcheAge, regardless of their tenure with the game. It was hard but necessary for the integrity of the game, and players far and wide have expressed their support for our stance on hacking and exploiting.

Last year saw ArcheAge merging servers, prompting players to ask if more servers will be merged in the future. While Trion Worlds has no more mergers planned for the foreseeable future, the company instead intends on offering incentives for players to move/create characters on said low-population servers instead.

Our initial proposal is still in progress (and not final), but the goal is to highlight the appealing qualities of those servers to new players, players who are leveling, players who want to gear up in a less stressful environment, and players who may have trouble finding land. These ideas include providing boosts to experience or vocation, tagging them clearly in the server selection screen for new players, and allowing free inbound character transfers.

The letter goes on to discuss a number of planned updates, re-introducing rapid fire abilities that were altered from their Korean versions and moving event schedules to more reasonable timing. You can read the entire letter at the link below.

The German faction now has the P38 Parabellum, which is widely regarded as the first modern handgun and pistols today are still being built on its design principles. RuneScape Unveils Free To Play Extravaganza

rs2client 2016-02-19 16-07-56-36

If you’re a non-paying player in RuneScape, odds are you hear the words “members only” quite often. It isn’t so often that free players receive new content outside of holiday events, and even those have become rather restricted in the past. This month, however, Jagex has unveiled its Free to Play Extravaganza. Starting today, you don’t need to subscribe in order to access a wealth of content, including bosses and combat options.

For starters, the King Black Dragon and Giant Mole can be killed by free players to sell their sweet, sweet loot for extra gold. Keep in mind, however, you can look but you can’t touch. While free players can obtain members loot, their only use is essentially to sell to members who can bury/utilize them.

Free players can now take on the mighty King Black Dragon by getting to his lair via the Wilderness. Only the bravest and best-equipped need apply. The drops, dragon bones and black dragonhides, are now sellable by free players, but can only be buried and processed by members. Note that the Edgeville artefact cannot be used in free-to-play worlds to access to this boss.

Access to dual-wielding, previously a members-only feature, is now freely available as well alongside a number of combat abilities. Dungeoneering has also had an update, increasing the level of gear that players have access to both inside and out of the dungeon.

You can check out the entire update below.

Heroes & Generals Will Drop Support For Windows XP

Luchs_Factory_1920px

If you play Heroes & Generals and your computer still operates on Windows XP, at least one of those two will no longer be the case in the coming months. The latest update to Heroes & Generals, dubbed the Zhukov Armored Ambush update, dropped today introducing new vehicles, new weapons, and various tweaks and anti-cheat updates. In addition, the folks at Reto Moto announced that this update will be the last to support Windows XP.

This will be the last update supporting Windows XP. Microsoft ended their support in April 2014, so there has not been any security etc. updates for more than one and a half years. So, if you’re still running XP now is the time to upgrade as the next update to Heroes & Generals (in early 2016) will no longer be playable on Windows XP.

Players have until next release to update their operating system or find a new game.

Jagex Reveals 2016 Update Schedule

scapefix

Runefest has come and gone, and with it has come the reveal of Jagex’s plans for RuneScape in 2016. Announced at Runefest and posted on the official website, Jagex’s stated goal next year is to make each update significant, and to involve players in the release schedule.

First, we want to change how we update the game, giving you more bang for your buck. Each month there will be a major release – something you can really get your teeth into. To support this, we’ll still have smaller, regular updates, keeping the game ticking over smoothly.

Updates next year include a new God Wars dungeon, a complete redesign to the mining and smithing skills, the conclusion to Sliske’s story line, new Barrows content, and more. Also up for release in 2016 is the NXT client, as announced one year ago, ushering in better performance, faster loading, and farther draw distances, as well as better graphics. More raids, more bosses, and more quests accompany the release of Invention, the first elite skill to be added into RuneScape.

Invention is similar to Dungeoneering in that it will draw from other skills and can be leveled up to 120. 2016 also marks RuneScape’s 15th anniversary, an event that the company hopes to celebrate in a big way.
