Line of Defense Leaving Steam

LOD_3

3000AD has announced that Line of Defense is leaving Steam, citing trolling and harassment from the community. In a post on the Steam forums, Derek Smart points to the lack of developer control when it comes to review bombing, the lack of proper moderators employed by Valve, and a lack of control over ratings and comments.

“You can flag a comment that blatantly breaks the guidelines. Then you get to hope that any action is taken. As I type this, there are a few of those on the LOD store page which not only have personal attacks, external attack links, entire essays attacking me – and NOTHING about the game.”

As a result, Line of Defense will no longer be sold on Steam in the coming future. Players who already bought the game will receive a second copy to be used since the Steam version will stop being updated. Instead, customers will access the game via Playfab.

According to Smart, this is not a guarantee that Line of Defense will never return to the platform.

“We won’t be the first developer or publisher to pull a game from Steam. And others have pulled a game, then brought it back later.”

Line of Defense is currently in Steam Early Access. It carries a “mostly negative” rating and is played by an average of .4 players in the last month [Source: Steam Charts].

He wasn’t review bombed he just wants to blame everyone else because he did a poor job. http://steamcommunity.com/app/266620/reviews/?p=1&browsefilter=toprated most of the reviews are a year old. Even Steam Chart shows how poor the game has done since September 2014 http://steamcharts.com/app/266620 plus you have to buy the game to review it.

seems to me Derek Smart is just an idiot….and the game sucks

Older gamers like me know that since the mid 1990’s. He never released a game that didn’t suck to begin with.

  3. Qayos says:

It’s hard to get good reviews when you make crappy games. There’s so much bad with LoD and Smart really goes out of his way to make sure the gaming community doesn’t like him. Why would folks write good things about a poorly put together FPS. The Steam Chart doesn’t lie when it comes to folks online at the same time. If nobody is playing there’s probably a reason.

  4. David Carson says:

I guess trolling is a full-time job, forcing Smart to abandon his part-time career as a failed game developer.

It tooks 20 years but at least I am avenged of what DS did to battlecruiser. I was young and confident and DS did killed my hope (and hard earn cash) with an unplayable game. Then during those past 20 years he released 17 iteration of the same game with different names, never learning anything. This guy deserve every single bad review. >Of course he will never release LOD because he run out of cash and nobody want to work with in the gaming industry.

Live by the troll. Die by the troll. Go back to your cave DS!!
