[Video] Emiko Shibamura “Akindo Fighter”

Today’s video has nothing to do with video games, in fact I wouldn’t even be posting it were it not to show up in the MMO Fallout inbox.

In case you decided to read this before watching the video, Emiko Shibamura is a 65 year old Japanese fashion icon, best-selling author, and self-help guru who is breaking into the American music industry with a rap video debut. It is possibly the greatest thing I have ever seen.

Surgeon General’s Warning: The above video contains more than your daily recommended dose of beefcake.

[NM] Ubisoft Donates Money To Notre-Dame, Gives Unity For Free

Ubisoft has joined the list of companies donating to rebuild the Notre-Dame Cathedral in Paris following a fire that destroyed much of the church. The French developer has pledged $564 thousand USD to help with its restoration, joining the hundreds of millions of dollars donated by the combined efforts of numerous other French and international businesses.

In addition, Ubisoft is offering a free copy of Assassin’s Creed Unity for PC to honor the landmark. Assassin’s Creed Unity recreated the Notre Dame cathedral to such a level of accuracy and detail that Engadget is reporting that the game may be of use in its reconstruction.

The free copy of Unity runs until April 25. All you have to do is add the game to your account and it will be there forever.

[Video] Torchlight Frontiers Shows Off Railmaster Class

All around the world join in, it’s called Torchlight: Frontiers.

The latest Torchlight class on show might be the strangest thing we’ve seen here at MMO Fallout. The Railmaster is a hammer wielding class that adventures with a train companion. The blog post goes into more detail about how the Railmaster came to be, and what it is now. Long story short, you’ll be laying down rails and equipping your little engine with specialty cars to provide an extra whoopin. This is one game that doesn’t look like it’s going to end up a trainwreck.

Atlas Reactor No Longer Sustainable, Will Shut Down

Trion World’s title Atlas Reactor will sunset on June 28, 2019. The title was launched in 2016 under Trion Worlds and transferred along with Trion’s other assets to Gamigo when the company suddenly shut down last year.

Mervin Lee Kwai, Vice President of Development at gamigo and a former Executive Producer: “Atlas Reactor was a truly innovative game built by a passionate group of highly skilled developers. I was lucky enough to watch our team breathe life into the world of Atlas on a daily basis. They broke the mold of same-y games, and a dedicated community rallied around the title. Despite the support of this great group of fans, Atlas Reactor never grew big enough to fund its continued development. It’s a shame to see this chapter come to a close, but perhaps we’ll have a chance to revisit the innovative spirit of Atlas in the future.”

As part of the shut down, players who logged in between January 1 and April 16 will receive a small parting gift. The cash shop has been shut down and experience, flux, and ISO rates have been boosted dramatically for the duration of the game’s life.

RuneScape Brings In Easter

This week’s RuneScape update reminds us that Easter is quite late this year.

If you have ever wanted to know what it’s like to shove a tuna in a shark, well you now have the opportunity. RuneScape’s Easter update is here, and that can only mean more shenanigans with the Easter Bunny. Running through the end of the month, players can support the various guilds through side quests and tasks, with the ultimate goal being to win a mysterious egg found by the Easter Bunny. Donate Rune Coins to progress through the event faster and those coins will be converted into real-world donations to be paid to Jagex’s two chosen charities: The Prince’s Trust and CPSL Mind.

Over the course of the next couple of weeks, skilling in the game will reward chocolate shards which can be traded in for further rewards.

The Prince’s Trust is a charity in the UK that supports 11 to 30 year olds who are unemployed and struggling at school and at risk of exclusion. CPSL Mind offers a wide range of services to support those recovering from mental health challenges, promote positive mental health and tackle mental health-related stigma and discrimination within the community.

Snapshots: My Pink Bean Edition

Today’s snapshot comes to us from MapleStoryM, the mobile spinoff of everyone’s favorite game to say “I remember that game.”

The folks at Nexon are hosting an event (go figure) for My Pink Bean. The gist of the event is that you get food to feed your bean, with the ultimate goal of leveling it up and getting rewards such as the pink bean chair and the pink bean mount. It’s all just so gosh darn adorable.

Check out more Snapshots every time it is posted.

Perfect World Sunsets Neverwinter/Star Trek Foundry Systems

The Foundry has always been an interesting part of Neverwinter and Star Trek Online, the feature allowed players in both games to create custom missions and add their own spin on to the stories. Over the years, the Foundry has been subject to balancing by Perfect World to prevent players from abusing the system to hand out massive rewards with minimal effort.

Sadly the system is now dead. As announced back in March, the Foundry has shut down as of this week. According to Perfect World, the company was unable to keep the feature properly maintained. It appears that employees with knowledge of the Foundry’s programming are no longer with the company.

PUBG Banned In Nepal

PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds is addictive and dangerous to teenagers, at least that is the justification that Sandip Adhikari, deputy director at Nepal Telecommunications Authority gave to Reuters this week in justifying the total country-wide ban of the game. The ban went into effect on Thursday, meaning it is now in place, and directs all internet and mobile service providers to block access to the game.

It should be noted that there haven’t been any incidents related to PUBG, however the ban is due to parental concerns over children being distracted from studies and other duties. The ban comes nearly one month after Indian authorities arrested more than a dozen for violating a ban on the title in Gujarat. The Reuters article does not discuss possible sanctions for those who bypass the ban.
