Old School RuneScape Releases 80-Player Boss

Old School RuneScape’s latest update drops today introducing The Nightmare of Ashihama, a new boss that can be taken down with groups of up to 80 players. The boss’s difficulty scales with each player added to the group, with only the best able to take it down solo. Jagex promises that every player in the group will get their hands on a reward for taking it down.

Executive producer of Old School RuneScape Rob Hendry commented on the update;

“As with all new content introductions in Old School, nothing gets released unless we have the backing of the community. Late last year we put the Nightmare to a player poll, and it passed with flying colours attracting more than 45,000 votes with 90% approving its addition. Empowering our community to have a say in the game’s content, through polls such as this, is hugely important to us as a development team and we can’t wait for players to team up and tackle the Nightmare today.”

Adventurers who take down The Nightmare have a chance at some unique gear. For more information, check out the official website below.

MapleStory 2 To Sunset 32 Bit Client This Month

Sorry folks.

As the tech industry continues moving forward into the far flung future of 2020, you folks on last decade’s hardware are inevitably going to be left in the dust. Unfortunately for MapleStory 2 players that means anyone running on 32-bit is going to have a heaping helping of nothing come next week.

Nexon today announced that the 32 bit client for MapleStory 2 is going away, as in going away on February 12.

“Starting on February 12th, 2020, the 32-bit client for MapleStory 2 will be discontinued. Players will be defaulted to the 64-bit version of the game client. Moreover, the recommended specs of MapleStory 2 will be adjusted on all of our platforms. Due to Microsoft’s discontinuation of Windows 7 support, we recommend that players use Windows 10 when playing the game.”

Temtem Clubs Cheaters: Almost 900 Permanently Banned

Temtem developer Crema today fired not so much a warning shot as a warning kill by announcing the ban of nearly 900 accounts from the newly launched MMO. All accounts in question have been permanently banned with no chance of appeal, with Crema stating their 100% confidence that each account has been caught cheating or abusing exploits.

The statement that Crema won’t be reviewing any ban appeals had some members of the community concerned to say the least, as one could cite hundreds of examples of developers messing up and issuing false bans that are later overturned.

Crema has since walked back their comment on a no appeals policy. Players who are banned and believe that it was out of error can appeal their ban by contacting Crema’s support email.

Not Massive: Blizzard Offers Instant Warcraft 3 Refunds

Insert your speculation on their motivation here.

Warcraft 3 Reforged is the latest fiasco in Activision Blizzard’s ongoing saga titled “How To Show Contempt For And Lose Customers,” and it looks like someone at Blizzard wised up over the weekend and decided to go halfway to doing the right thing. According to users over at Reddit, Blizzard has activated instant refunds for Warcraft III: Reforged, with requests going through almost instantly (within a minute, which is basically instant in customer service terms).

Blizzard seems so enthusiastic about refunding Warcraft 3 that one user received a refund for their Warcraft 3 purchase when they actually contacted customer support to refund a World of Warcraft token they had purchased. Similar to Fallout 76 receiving a satirical website, someone has gone ahead and created a Warcraft 3 website roasting the game as well as Blizzard’s perceived anti-consumer sentiments.

Have you tried to refund your Warcraft 3 purchase? Let us know in the comments below.

Steam Cleaned: Coronavirus Simulator Is A Desperate Plea For Attention

The Internet Memesters Union has brought us another floater, and it’s only a matter of time before the press throws itself on this turd.

These days the best way to get attention when putting out a low-effort game on Steam is to be bad, and I mean impressively bad. Any crew of college students can put out an unremarkable Unreal engine shooter and throw a hissy fit when it gets criticized, but in order to actually get sales you’re going to have to appeal to one of two “i’ll buy anything for the irony of it” demographics; the hentai demographic and what I have started calling the Internet Memesters Union. These groups of course go hand in hand with the “I’ll buy anything with easy achievements” and Russian trading card bot farms.

Now given that the Coronavirus has become a serious topic, it was only a matter of time before the Memesters Union jumped on board with all of its original hilarity. Coronavirus Simulator is an upcoming Steam game whose developer credits are Evil Scientists and Reptilian, and publishers are Uzbekistan Bears and Putin Team. Get it? Putin? Putin’s still funny, right? Putin!

“This time you will take on the role of a coronovirus, arriving directly from the laboratory of evil geniuses. Your task is to destroy humanity on planet Earth and spread throughout the galaxy. Modify your genome as it develops, improve your immunity to extreme conditions, and stay tuned for vaccine development!”

How quirky and random, and the only thing worth talking about in a shoddy clicker game.

But this crew isn’t the only one falling over itself to get in on the edgelord demographic as another title just simply called Coronavirus is also on its way out this month.

Coronavirus looks like it was hastily cobbled together out of a pre-built asset pack, which makes sense considering how long the virus has been a thing and that the game is coming out on February 14. Coronavirus is in development by soboleznyou which our on staff KGB agent says roughly means a message of condolences.

On the other hand if this means the Memesters Union is moving away from ‘God Emperor Trump’ games, it can’t be all that bad. At the very least I haven’t seen any images of Pepe the Frog showing up in the promo screenshots. Get ready for certain members of the press to throw themselves on these titles to scream about toxicity on Steam or something.

Behind Schedule On Camelot Unchained, City State Entertainment Announces Second Title

Camelot Unchained was Kickstarted in 2013 and is now many years behind schedule. What is City State Entertainment going to do about it? Work on a second game, of course!

MassivelyOP conducted an interview with Mark Jacobs today ahead of the announcement of Colossus, a second game that has been in development since July of last year. Jacobs acknowledges that some people are bound to be angry about this announcement, but promises that the existence of Colossus has brought in improvements that will also be enjoyed by Camelot Unchained.

“I think that people will react the way people always react to things. Some will be angry, some will be “Whatever, as long as we get CU,” and others will be happy, as they will see all the good stuff that is now part of the engine. And, if something is part of the engine, that means it’s part of CU. Others will be happy because they will get to play an additional game besides CU that they are not being charged for, and they’ll be especially happy if they like PvE games.”

You only get to play an additional game if either of them actually hits launch, Mark.

After missing its latest release date expectation, City State Entertainment still has no clue when people can expect to see Camelot Unchained launched. Colossus meanwhile has a tentative release date of the end of the year. If it actually makes that launch date, we will be shocked.

Mobility: Netmarble Releases Magic: ManaStrike

Netmarble this week launched Magic: ManaStrike, the first in the franchise to be released on iOS and Android. The game takes place in a timeline where the Planeswalkers defeat Nicol Bolas. Bolas creates a parralel universe to find the Planeswalker’s weakness. ManaStrike offers fast paced and easy to learn gameplay in real time battles in three minute matches with players around the world.

“Netmarble and Wizards of the Coast worked closely for a long time to ensure Magic: ManaStrike is a new gameplay style that will be enjoyable for all players, but stays true to Magic: The Gathering’s roots and is authentic and enjoyable to fans,” said Joe Lee, Executive Producer at Netmarble. “Thanks to our partnership, we are excited to deliver a Magic: The Gathering experience that introduces real-time battles for mobile players, yet maintains core features from the original IP for fans.”

Players can expect a slew of events to celebrate ManaStrike’s launch. ManaStrike is available on iOS and Android in English, Korean, Simplified and Traditional Chinese, French, German, Italian, Spanish, Japanese, Indonesian, Thai, Russian and Portuguese.

“With Magic: ManaStrike, we were impressed with Netmarble’s ability to encapsulate Magic: The Gathering‘s 25-year history into a mobile game that stays true to what Magic fans want in other mediums,” said Eugene Evans, VP of Business Development and Strategy at Wizards of the Coast. “Seeing our cards and Planeswalkers stepping into the 3D battlefield, along with our card effects translated from strategic turn-based gameplay into real-time combat, is a delight to see and we can’t wait to see how Magic: ManaStrike develops over time.”
