Hellgate On Steam Greenlight

hellgates

For a game that has been in maintenance mode since 2012, Hellgate Global is a very fun title and completely free now that the full game and Tokyo expansion are available for free. In an effort to expand the game’s audience to those who have never heard of it or assumed that the game was still offline under Flagship Studios, T3Fun has put Hellgate Global on bid for Steam Greenlight. You can head on over to the game’s Greenlight page (linked below) to vote on bringing the title to Steam.

Or you can just go over to the official website and play it now.

Next ArcheAge Test Coming August 22nd

AA_Beta4_EN_952x414

ArcheAge beta tests are like the McRib, they only come around for a little while and the next event is always sooner than you think. Whether you’re itching to get in for the first time or have already tested ArcheAge and are hungry for more (or have to wait out your prison sentence), you’ll be glad to hear that the next closed beta event begins August 22nd and goes through August 27th. Your crops will pick up exactly where they left off at the end of the previous event.

What’s new? Now you can play ArcheAge in English, German, and even French. Beta Event 3 keys will not be valid this time around, but you’ll be able to grab a key from a number of partner sites (not MMO Fallout, we’re not a partner site) in the coming days. Otherwise you can buy into the ArcheAge founders packs and get instant access.

Perfect World Entertainment Posts Q2 2014 Finances

neverwinter_scourge_warlock_071414_3_wm

Perfect World Entertainment has posted their second quarter income for 2014 and the results are looking pretty good. For the second quarter, total revenues amounted to $149.6 million USD, an increase by about 4% over last quarter. Gross profit similarly increased by a small margin to $109.4 million with operating profit decreased nearly 30% to $20.7 million. CEO Robert Xiao attributed much of the increase in revenue to the success of client-based games like Swordsman Online and the publishing of Dota 2 in China.

Expenses rose in the second quarter due to an increase in sales and marketing as well as research and development. For the next quarter, Perfect World Entertainment expects an increase in revenue between 3-8%.

Old School: One Last Shot At Artisan

noedits

Old School RuneScape launched as a snapshot of the MMO as it was back in 2007, and since then has updated with a ton of new content all sourced from the forums and approved by a majority of players via content polls. With the variety of content added, Old School RuneScape has pretty much established itself as a separate product, and not just a classic RuneScape experience. One of the largest content additions put up to player approval has been Artisan, a new skill that does not exist in RuneScape 3. The idea of Artisan is that the skill gathers from other skills to create new items.

Unfortunately the players have not voted to approve the skill over several re-imaginings. The latest dev blog details the most recent version of Artisan being presented for approval, noting that this is the final dev blog on the matter. The Artisan skill will have players receiving gathering and crafting tasks from artisan masters and will allow them to craft items and tools that will aid in everyday life. For one example, it will be possible to craft wieldable tools (saving inventory space) or creating slow-burn logs which burn longer and decreases odds for burning food.

In addition to voting on the addition of the skill, players will also have the ability to vote on individual items and see them added to existing skills if the Artisan skill as a whole does not pass.

planetside2image2

Sony Online Entertainment took some time to speak about Planetside 2 at this year’s SOE Live. While they can’t promise anything, the goal is to have a beta version of Planetside 2’s Playstation 4 version available to players by the end of the year. The PC version is still on track for its regular updates, with this month bringing in new mentoring systems as well as new vehicles and battle islands which will introduce smaller scale combat areas and new objectives other than simply capturing territory.

PC and PS4 players will not play against one another when the latter comes out later this year.

Dark Elves And Class Reveals For Everquest Next

eqnexttown

Sony Online Entertainment has revealed new details on Everquest Next at SOE Live. Development on Everquest Next continues alongside Landmark, with feedback from the community in Landmark fueling development of the full MMO. The Dark Elves were the latest race to be revealed today, showing off gothic-themed architecture and dark landscapes. Alongside the new race, SOE also revealed three new classes: The cleric, the elementalist, and the tempest.

The cleric is a support class, capable of fighting and boosting his allies at the same time. The elementalist is a mage who, expectedly, uses elemental-based magic attacks with the added bonus of being able to damage the terrain easily. The tempest is a speed-based class that bases its attacks on lightning.

SOE has also given some detail on the Rallying Call, the overarching story. Each player will have a book called the Rohsong which tracks personal and server progression. Since the server bases story events off of the results of previous events and other algorithms, the stories of individual servers can go in completely different directions. One event detailed described players finding enough loot in an area to attract brigands in search of wealth. The players were then tasked with fighting back the brigands or risk them making off with the gold.

More SOE news is sure to come.

NCSoft Q2 2014 Finances

Screenshot 2014-08-14 at 12.18.02 AM

NCSoft has posted their second quarter finances for 2014 and the results are looking good across the board. Thanks to strong launches including Guild Wars 2 in China and Wildstar in the US and EU, NCSoft saw a 20% increase in sales, a 46% increase in profit, and a 45% increase in net income over the previous quarter. Lineage 1, meanwhile, increased in sales thanks to a solid base.

Wildstar debuted to $27 million in sales during its first posted quarter. Sales in Europe and North America have been consolidated into a single metric, not so surprising when you consider that Europe had dropped to just 3% of NCSoft’s sales with North America at 13%.

Virtual Stable Sells For $5600

Science_Tent

Entropia Universe is well known here at MMO Fallout for its ridiculous sales of virtual estate for real money. Entropia Universe AB announced today that the MMORCE (Massively Multiplayer Online Real Cash Economy) game has successfully completed its first stable auction, and the results might just astound you. Over $58 thousand real dollars were spent by players to get their hands on thirteen virtual stables. The most expensive stable sold for $5600.

What’s so great about these stables that someone would pay nearly six grand for it? Stables are able to accumulate wealth by renting out stalls and offering specialized training to other players in return for PED, which can be cashed out for real money. Theoretically, given an upcoming update that will place more importance on stables, each of the buyers are likely to come out with a profit. A real profit, of real money.

The sales are as follows:

Cape Corinth Stable – Eugenio Anhithe Wilde – $5000
Emerald Lakes Stable – Gunnar MRmP Pettersen – $4280
